«Gone Baby Gone» is a 2007 American crime drama/mystery film directed by Ben Affleck and starring Casey Affleck. The screenplay by Ben Affleck and Aaron Stockard is based on true events and the novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane, author of Mystic River. Two Boston area detectives investigate a little girl's kidnapping, which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personally. Based on the Dennis Lehane novel. When 4 year old Amanda McCready disappears from her home and the police make little headway in solving the case, the girl's aunt Beatrice McCready hires two private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. The detective freely admit that they have little experience with this type of case, but the family wants them for two reasons - they're not cops and they know the tough neighborhood in which they all live. As the case progresses, Kenzie and Gennaro face drug dealers, gangs and pedophiles. When they finally solve the case, they are faced with a moral dilemma that tears them apart. The «Gone Baby Gone» film was a favorite among critics and audiences alike. The movie won an assortment of awards, including Best First Film for Ben Affleck from the Austin Film Critics Association. As of March 22, 2009, the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reported 94 percent of critics gave the film positive reviews, based on 163 reviews. This is an impressive tale of moral ambiguity. While Casey Affleck beautifully portrays what would be considered the most likable character, there really is no one character that comes out of this movie clean. Casey Affleck has gone way beyond the Ocean's movies with his role in this film. He played it with just the right amount of finesse. Nothing over the top. He was supported wonderfully by Michelle Monaghan, who just keeps impressing me with better and better performances.
