Annie answers the ringing cell phone...
more
Annie answers the ringing cell phone outside the Amsterdam train station. Khalid (Haaz Sleiman) is on the other end and sends her a photo of Eyal with today's newspaper. He's alive and will remain so if Annie gets him the names of the CIA assets in his company. Annie protests that she doesn't know if they have any and she doesn't have access to it.Annie meets with an asset recommended by Eric Barber (Dylan Taylor) back at Langley. She can get Annie access to CIA files, but only from inside the US consulate infirmary, where the computer has access to the web.Annie calls and leaves Auggie a voice mail, saying she's facing a situation and there are a thousand reasons not to proceed, but her gut says she should.Annie walks down the street and is cornered by two men. They jump her and she fights them off, but they get a few good licks in. A shop keeper sees and runs them off.Annie goes to the consul, saying her name is Danielle Brooks and she's been attacked and needs help.In the infirmary, Bob the vice consul sends the nurse away. He wants to know how she got into the country, she says through the Greek islands. He knows the Greek database is notoriously out of date. He says his questions can wait and she can stay there.Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin) is released from prison. Arthur is there to meet him with a name, Romi Hadad, the real target of the drone strike.Henry told everyone Hadad had been killed six years ago. He thinks things have been set right. Arthur points out the toll of assets burned and other lives lost.Outside Amsterdam, Khalid has Eyal tied to a chair in his luxury apartment. Eyal has a bandage on his leg where the GPS tracker was removed. Eyal thinks Khalid is desperate, but he points out Eyal is the one working with a spy from a rival agency. Eyal tells Khalid he's betrayed Annie so many times he doesn't even know if she wants to save him.In the middle of the night in the consul, Annie gets up and breaks into the infirmary to access the computer and the CIA database. She uses the drive from the hacker to access the Ansari Company files and gets 16 names, which she downloads. She goes back to her room in the infirmary and is shocked to see Auggie waiting for her in the dark.Joan put him on the first flight out of the Gulf after she heard Annie's voice mail. He tells her to let Mossad get Eyal, but she tells him Eyal quit and that means they're not coming. He asks her if she has feelings for Eyal. She wonders why he keeps asking. He has an idea that doesn't violate agency protocol. "This is a mistake, but at least we'll make it together," he says.At Langley, Arthur brings Joan word of a declassification ceremony to put Jai's name on the wall that Henry made happen. Joan thinks they should do it for Jai and everyone else.Annie meets with the hacker again to get the files she downloaded. "Tell your friend he's got one heck of a right hook," Annie tells her, so we know the asset set up the beat down.Auggie goes to a coffee shop and is greeted by his old friend Joost (Seann Gallagher), who has a small arsenal in back. He says Auggie's request was odd and specialized, then gives Auggie a revolver and box of ammunition.Khalid calls Annie, who won't go with his terms. She instead suggests a crowded public place.Auggie reassures her, telling her to focus on one positive thought, or one thing she loves.Annie heads to the meet in a public square. Auggie waits nearby.Khalid leads Eyal through the market. Annie tells Auggie where to find them and he takes out his cane and walks into the man guarding Eyal, loudly asking for directions to Pier 10. The man shoves Auggie aside.Khalid meets Annie. She coldly tells him the flaw in his plan was counting on her feelings for Eyal. What's in the file is what Eyal is worth to her alive. Khalid opens the file. It's empty.Annie takes out the revolver and shoots Eyal, who falls to the ground. The people in the market scatter and Khalid and one bodyguard chase after Annie as she makes her escape. The other body guard checks on Eyal, who pops up unharmed and tackles him, taking his gun. Eyal flicks the blood packets off his shirt and takes off. He finds Auggie at Pier 10."This is a ridiculous plan," says a relieved Eyal. Auggie agrees.Annie hides from Khalid and his man in a bicycle lot, ducking between the bikes. They don't see her and keep running. But they hear her footsteps above them and follow. They find a bike turned over. Annie runs the other direction.Eyal and Auggie wait for Annie on a boat, but there's a back up plan if she doesn't make it. Auggie says he'd never leave her, neither would Eyal.Annie comes running around the corner with Khalid and his thug on her heels. She tells them to start the boat. She leaps on as they're pulling away from the pier. The thug jumps, too, but Eyal shoots him midair. Khalid is left watching on the pier as they motor away.On the boat, Auggie tells Annie he was worried about her.Arthur calls, wanting to know the status of Khalid. The Saudi government made a deal with the Dutch to allow him to return to Saudi Arabia, where he'll be safe from US prosecution. He leaves on a helicopter in one hour. Annie says she understands. She tells Eyal and Auggie and then concludes the CIA wants her to kill Khalid. Arthur told her exactly where he would be and when. She thinks that's why they sent Auggie, to support her as she cleans up the mess.Auggie argues she's wrong.Annie goes into the boat's hold, takes Eyal's gun and sneaks off the boat. She goes to Eyal's guarded luxury apartment and sneaks in. She creeps through his house finds him upstairs smoking. He goes for his gun but she stops him and takes it."Killing you would be the easiest thing in the world right now, but that doesn't solve anything," she says as she lowers her gun.She says she's there on behalf of Megan. He thinks the CIA killed her."When I tell you who did it, you're going to realize how insignificant you are," she says. She shows him part of the CIA file on her dad's company, the page on the man who killed Megan. It's Khalid's dad's bodyguard. His father (Erick Avari) ordered it.He goes through the file on his father and begins to believe her. "You want a list of the names that betrayed you, look no farther than your father. He's the root of your problem. What you do with that information is up to you," she says, leaving.Eyal and Auggie pick her up outside. She didn't kill Khalid.Annie says good-bye Eyal, who is planning to get on his 40-foot boat in Greece. He invites her to join him, but she wants to get home and put down some roots. He tells her someday they'll be somewhere looking at a sunset, thinking about nothing at all.She says good-bye and he says thank you.Annie and Auggie take the private jet back. Auggie suggests they get a drink when they get back, not the bar. He was thinking some place nicer. They make plans for Friday at 8:00 pm.At Langley, Arthur speaks at the declassification ceremony for Jai. He tells Henry he's sorry for his loss. "No you're not," Henry says.Annie goes to her desk after and finds a letter waiting for her.She goes back to the diner where Jai was killed. Henry is waiting for her.Henry tells her he's there to try to make things right. He says it's about Arthur and Joan.He asks why she didn't kill Khalid in Amsterdam."I gave Khalid all the information he needs to kill his father, or force his father to kill him. Either way we get a piece off the game board and cause havoc in their ranks, and it can't be traced back to the agency," she says.He commends her on her spycraft and hands her a file. "I knew you were the right person for this," she says.Without looking at it, she says she won't go against Joan and Arthur. He urges her to take a look. She opens it and is stunned. "I'm in," she says. She takes the file home and goes over it with a beer late at night. Auggie comes to her place. It's not Friday. He tells her today's ceremony got him thinking about their lives and what they do. He tells her timing is everything and he wanted to talk now. She asks about what and he reaches for her. He kisses her."I'm glad we're having his talk," she says. They get back to kissing.

Auggie follows.Downey tells Auggie him coming back was his wife's idea. He got a Purple Heart, but all he got was a concussion and his lieutenant died saving him. Downey is unmoved by what Auggie says and leaves.Back in Zurich, Eyal visits a jeweler to get 100,000 in clean diamonds. But the man won't give them to him without clearing it through Rivka. When Eyal objects, the man pulls a taser on him. Eyal is about to strong arm him when Annie pulls him off.Outside, he admits he quit Mossad. He texts Annie one word: "Waiter."Annie sees the waiter come downstairs with the satchel and watches as he hands it off. Annie walks toward the courier, a blond woman. It's Megan.Annie asks where she's going with the bag. She notices Megan's giant new engagement ring, but warns her he'll get rid of her when she's no longer useful. She tells Megan about the dead body standing in for her in a morgue in Luxembourg. Megan is still angry about the CIA taking her old life away, and plans to stick with Khalid.Annie tells her it's her decision and wishes her luck. She sticks her with the GPS tracker and lets Megan walk away.Eyal meets her downstairs and they catch up, but they run outside when they hear gunshots. They go out to find a car driving off and Megan lying dead on the ground. Eyal picks up the satchel and they lead.Iraq, the soldiers stop on the road to Tikrit. They're warned to stay close, but Auggie wants to head down a street he remembers. Downey says it doesn't even look like a bomb went off there. When kid kicks his soccer ball over, Auggie calls him over in Arabic and gives him his Purple Heart."Think that kid could have been the one that talked to you?" Downey asks."They all could have been," Auggie says.ZurichAfter going through the contents of the satchel, Eyal finds no good leads. Annie is upset over Megan's death, but says Megan refused all her offers to help and there was nothing she can do. "Not everybody can be saved, it's not my job," she says.Eyal hopes what he said to her in West Virginia didn't stick, her empathy is one of her greatest talents and she never knows when she might need it. Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)
Rosslyn, VirginiaAuggie calls Annie...
more
Rosslyn, VirginiaAuggie calls Annie to tell her the photo of Al-Masri was definitely doctored. Annie drops by Megan in protective custody. She's angry at Annie for the fact she lost her job, apartment and boyfriend. In Arthur's office they're in full crisis mode. None of the DNA from the drone strike victims matched Al-Masri. Arthur's being hauled before a Senate Intelligence committee hearing in a matter of hours. Annie doesn't understand why Mossad would doctor evidence and alienate them as allies. Annie asks Joan what she can do to help, and Joan tells her to go back to Blue Bonnet for her Russia debrief. She also tells Annie not to contact Eyal, just in case it needs to be said. On the road, Annie notices she's being followed. Her phone rings. It's Eyal. He's the one behind her and tells her to pull over. She asks him if he knew there was false intel in the file when he gave it to her. He swears on his son's life he didn't. He tells her they intercepted a call from Khalid saying he wanted revenge on the person who sold him out.Annie rushes to check on Megan. The guard outside her door says no one's been there. Annie goes in and finds a chair knocked over, a window open and Megan gone. They check outside security camera footage and Annie sees Griffin Kohl driving by. She calls Auggie. She doesn't want to tell Joan or Arthur until she has something solid. Outside the hotel, Annie catches Eyal up to speed. He wants to follow the car to West Virginia because Kohl is a Mossad target. Back at Langley, Arthur is in crisis mode. He blames himself for missing something. Later, Joan tells Auggie they need ammunition against Mossad. She's bringing Rivka in later. Annie and Eyal reach the location on Kohl's lo-jac, a warehouse garage in an industrial area. Annie thinks it means bad news for Megan. They check the car, but it's empty. They both get a bad feeling. They see a photo of Megan in the front seat. Annie opens the door, but something beeps. They run as the car explodes. Annie checks in with Auggie. Joan hears and asks to talk to Annie. She explains why she's with Eyal and makes a case to follow up on Megan. Joan is livid and fed up. She tells Annie to do whatever she wants and hangs up on her. Auggie tells Joan that Annie is just trying to win her respect back and being sent to Blue Bonnet feels like punishment. Joan says it is, and she can't get her out of it, but Auggie doesn't believe it.Joan changes the subject. Back with Eyal, Annie gets a text from Auggie that Kohl has a brother five minutes from where they are. At Langley, Auggie explains they tried to track where the Al-Masri photo was taken from by tracing satellite paths, including an Israeli one. Israeli satellite photos have a telltale bad pixel mark that appears on the Al Masri photo. Outside Kohl's brother's house, Annie and Eyal approach him. When she mentions his brother, Daniel runs. They chase him and tackle him. He says he hasn't seen his brother in two years, but he's clearly lying. Eyal tells Annie to check the house. When she's walks away, Eyal sticks his gun in Daniel's cheek. Daniel says he lent his brother his car to go to a nearby airport, but he doesn't know anything about Megan. Annie sees the whole thing. Back in the car, Annie questions Eyal's methods. Eyal tells Annie about meeting Johanna Peterson in Amsterdam, a woman who was perfect to insert in Khalid's organization. In flashback, we see Eyal in bed with her as he talks about her natural spy talents. She fit in easily with Khalid and was a great source of intel until one day it stopped. Khalid called offering her life in exchange for being taken off Mossad's target list. The next day, they found Johanna had been poisoned. Just like Rina, the last woman Kohl poisoned. He says he understands Annie wanting to find Megan now. Before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Arthur explains the intelligence they had. Flipping through the file he sees the name Zamir Gerson, the Israeli Minister of Agriculture. He cuts his testimony short, saying he hasn't had time to prepare. They give him two weeks. Arthur tells his people to get him everything they have on Zamir. At Langley, Joan lays out the satellite evidence to Rivka. She looks at it and says she owes CIA an apology, that they were both duped. She gives Joan a file on Eyal. Auggie calls Annie, who's in the car with Eyal. As she drives, Auggie explains that Rivka is saying Eyal went rogue, wanting to get Khalid over the death of a woman in Amsterdam. He's being decommissioned as a Mossad agent. Annie cuts things short and pulls over. She confronts Eyal .He admits it, but she doesn't believe him."You're sacrificing yourself to protect them," she says."You're wrong, I acted on my own," he says unconvincingly. Annie asks if he had to use her to get what he wanted. He tells her her trust in people makes her weak and a target. Annie drives off, leaving him in the road. She arrives at a nearby airfield and sees Kohl in his brother's van. Annie crashes the gate and drives in front of the private jet to stop it. She pulls her gun and orders the pilot to open the hatch. She searches the plane, which appears empty. Kohl walks out behind her with his gun, Annie drops her. He says he gave Megan a plane ticket and a fake passport, she went to see Khalid. Annie sees Eyal step onto the plane and takes the distraction as an opportunity to strike Kohl. He gets his arm around Annie's neck and is struggling with her. She can't get free, but she yells at Eyal to take the shot. After a moment's hesitation, he does, nailing Kohl between the eyes. Auggie goes to meet his friend Kip from veteran's affairs. He introduces Major James Wild who wants Auggie to come be a "Battle Buddy" to replace someone who was supposed to leave in 10 days. Auggie hesitates, but Wild gives him a week to decide. Annie tells Eyal he might be right that she needs thicker skin but she still doesn't believe he'd give her doctored photos knowing what would happen."I'm saying I'm giving you one last chance to save our friendship," she says."There's nothing I can say," Eyal says. Back at Langley, Arthur hasn't made any headway. Joan has been thinking about what he said about taking responsibility for the bad intel. She points out he got the intel because Annie felt the need to go above her head. "I think I've lost control of my department and my operatives because I haven't been the supervisor they've needed. I set a poor example of how to do this job... I've run myself into the ground.""What do you want to do about it?""Something that I've never done before: take a few days off, starting now," she says.Arthur loves the idea. They're interrupted by Arthur's secretary, who tells them Henry Wilcox's sentence is being commuted. Arthur goes back to Zamir's name and asks to schedule a meeting with Henry. Eyal meets with Rivka, who thinks things have gone according to plan. Eyal feels awful about betraying Annie. When Rivka offers him a desk, he quits. He's done some questionable things, but this was too much. He trusted Annie, she saved his life five times, even though she only counts three, he notes. "What is happening here is much larger than you know. We've all had to play our parts. We've all had to pay a price," Rivka says.He asks what she's lost."You," she says.Eyal leaves. Auggie gives Annie the good news she doesn't have to go back to Blue Bonnet. Joan changed her mind. Megan is brought to see Khalid at whatever opulent hotel he's hiding out in. She's glad he could explain everything. "Now tell me about the woman who approached you," he says."Her name is Annie Walker."

Man in the Middle
Annie wakes up in Eyal's apartment....
more
Annie wakes up in Eyal's apartment. She's looking for coffee when there's a knock at the door. Someone slips a file under it.She opens it. Inside there's a note that says "One Mitzvah deserves another." Auggie wakes up to Parker at his front door. After her NA meeting, Joan turns down Seth's offer for breakfast. She reminds him the program discourages same sex sponsorships, especially when the people used to be involved."Can you honestly tell me that you're out of the woods on this relapse?" he asks.Seth asks her to tell Arthur, but she says she can't in a place that polygraphs as much as this. Auggie asks Parker to cut to the chase. She explains that the military support payments her parents were getting after her brother Billy's death stopped and the bank is about to foreclose. He's hesitant to get involved but says he will. Joan finds Annie waiting for her. Joan reminds her she was supposed to go back to Blue Bonnet Farm. The file shows that Khalid Ansari has a secret meeting within 12 hours. Annie thinks she can turn his girlfriend to find out where it is. But Joan doesn't want to look into Khalid Ansari and can tell from the file that Annie shared the contents of the watch drive even though Joan explicitly told her not to. Joan calmly tells Annie she's concerned her judgments are being affected by her personal attachments.Joan sends her home.Instead, Annie goes over Joan's head and calls Arthur. Annie goes to meet with him. He immediately recognizes the man Khalid is supposed to meet with as Kamal Al-Mazri, the brains behind the Brothers in Allah network, behind the London hotel bombing. Arthur wants to track the meeting. Khalid's girlfriend is Megan Carr, Staff Director for the House Energy and Commerce committee. Annie assures Arthur than Eyal can be trusted. He gives her the go ahead to talk to Megan. Arthur handles Joan, who is naturally upset he overruled her. But he knew who Al-Mazri was because he's getting updates she's not getting anymore. "People on the seventh floor" think Joan's lost focus since sending Annie to Russia. Arthur agreed with the decision, he thinks she hasn't been herself. She started disappearing late at night and during the work day.He asks again what's going on but she focuses on him undermining her. Annie finds Megan Carr at a DC restaurant and works up to mentioning her secret boyfriend and the fact dating him would be a conflict of interest. Megan agrees to talk to Annie, guessing she's CIA. She assures Annie he's not who they think he is. Megan says you don't choose who you fall in love with, no matter how much baggage they have. She walks away without agreeing to help. Annie goes back to Arthur asking for permission to show Megan some of the evidence they have against her boyfriend. Arthur questions the validity of her Mossad information. "You're willing to stake your reputation? Your career?" he asks.Annie says yes and he grants her request. Auggie intercepts her coming out of Arthur's office and suggests she do some fence mending with Joan, reminding her she might need her one day. Back at the DC restaurant, Annie walks by the same man in the lobby.Megan is able to dismiss the charities that are terrorist fronts that Annie shows her, then Annie shows her a picture of the man sitting in the lobby, and another of him following Megan another time, saying Khalid hired him.Megan points out it's illegal to conduct surveillance on American citizens, which Annie knows. She points out Megan has been very trusting of Khalid, but he hasn't shown her the same courtesy. If she calls Khalid like they're asking, it'll either prove she's right about him or she'll know to end the relationship. Megan texts Khalid. When he calls back she has to keep him on the phone for 40 seconds for the CIA to trace it. He can tell she's stalling, he asks if something wrong and she says she's just tired of all his unexplained absences and mysterious trips. He promises to take her somewhere nice. She successfully keeps him talking for 40 seconds. Back at Langley, Arthur catches Joan up to speed. Al-Mazri is No. 17 on the terrorist kill list, so if they get a clear shot, they have the OK to send in a drone. By virtue of meeting with him, Khalid would become a viable target, too, despite his State Department protections. But they have to run it by legal, Seth, first. Auggie goes to the Department of Veteran's Affairs on Parker's behalf and learns her parents forgot to sign a form a few months back so it's in a backlog. Auggie asks for a favor and his contact happily obliges. He did a tour with Operation Proper Exit to feel better about coming home, a group that takes wounded vets back to Iraq. He suggests Auggie do it as a "battle buddy." Back at Langley, Arthur lays the case out to Seth. They've tracked Al-Mazri via satellite to near the coordinates of Khalid's call and there are no schools or anything nearby. Seth worries about targeting Khalid. "I don't need the Secretary of State and two former Presidents asking me why I killed the son of their favorite golf buddy," Seth says."We can't let terrorists go free just because their dads have a ten golf handicap," Arthur argues. Seth agrees to get a revised order. When Seth leaves, Arthur asks what's going on between Joan and him. Joan says she needed someone to talk to. Arthur asks why she hasn't come to him. She goes back to him taking her off a clearance list. They leave things unresolved. Auggie gets Annie, telling her a drone strike has been approved and she gets to watch it.Annie goes to the secret room in the basement to watch. They have satellite imagery confirming Khalid and Al-Mazri are both on site. Joan makes a public pitch that the drone strike is the wrong move with Khalid and they should try to develop him through Megan instead. Annie backs Joan up, saying that's possible. But Arthur and the other voices in the room think they have to take out terrorists when they have the chance and the strike is approved. Seth comes down to report they have approval to hit both men. The drone is 20 miles away. Arthur makes a pointed comment to Seth that it's amazing how fast our friends become our enemies and there's always collateral damage. The drone flies to its target and Arthur gives the "go" order. Annie and Joan watch anxiously. The missiles are fired and close in. The target is destroyed. They all turn away from the screens when Annie notices a jeep speeding away. It's Khalid. Because of the satellite delay, they can't shoot until he stops. Annie realizes he's heading straight into the center of town, where they can't fire because of all the civilians. He gets out and runs into the crowd. They triangulate his cell phone, but it's still in his car. Annie goes to the concert performance where she knows Megan will be. Megan just talked to Khalid, who she says asked about their earlier conversation. Annie warns Megan that Khalid is going to come after her.She asks Megan to come with her. Parker comes by Auggie's and he gives her the good news that her parents will get their check by the end of the week. She goes to hug him but he holds her off.She admits she wanted to see him. She says she wanted their relationship to work and is sorry it didn't. He says this needs to be the last time they see each other. Sitting at her desk, Joan contemplates her bottle of pills. She calls in for a refill, but her usual pharmacist isn't there. Megan is angry and blames Annie, but Annie says Megan put herself in the position by dating Khalid. Annie starts to lead her away when they notice the man from before approaching them. Annie runs upstairs to the scaffolding above an empty theater. The man follows, taking out his gun as he walks along the catwalk. Annie crosses to him and throws a weight against him, knocking his gun away. She fights the man off as Megan crawls for the gun. Megan fires and Annie is able to push the man over the edge. Back at Langley, Joan calls Annie into her office. She tells her DNA checks are being run on Al-Mazri and they're tracking Khalid. Annie expects to report to Blue Bonnet but Joan says that might not be an option, the failed drone strike was acting on intelligence Annie brought in. Annie realizes she's going to get blamed for everything. Joan blames Eyal, too, but Annie defends him, saying he saved her life."Annie, we are always here for you," Joan says. Annie thinks about that for a moment and unloads. "When my friend died in a car bomb, you let me get reassigned. When I got thrown into a Russian prison, you let me rot, without a shred of hope. Eyal got me out. And now, you're questioning my integrity, of my relationship with him? A relationship you encouraged me to exploit as long as it was convenient for this agency?" Joan doesn't react. "You know what? I'm done. Our relationship is clearly more broken than I thought it was," she says. Annie tries to explain she meant the agency, not Joan, but Joan thinks Annie said exactly what she meant. She suggests Annie follow up on the transfer she asked for awhile back. Annie leaves. Joan goes to Arthur's office. He gives her the number of the hotel where he'll be staying "to clear his head."She tells him she can't handle him leaving right now.He says he needs distance. She says there's something she needs to tell him. Annie finishes her report for Joan. Auggie calls, trying to convince her to come to the bar. She tells Auggie the fence-mending with Joan didn't work. Annie looks at the surveillance photos and sees something amiss. She goes to Arthur's office and busts in on Arthur and Joan, who is wiping away tears.Annie announces the photos were doctored, Al Mazri was never at the compound."Mossad played us," Annie says."No, Eyal played you," Joan says.

Culpeper Regional Airport, Brandy Station, VirginiaAnnie returns to US soil and gets in an SUV. The driver won't tell her where they're going but suggests she get comfortable. They pull up to a farm. A man in shirt sleeves named Gary welcomes her to the farm, an agency "safe" facility. She wants to go back to Langley, but he says they'll get to that.He pours her juice and they sit at a table in a barn. They'll be going over timelines and events."And if I'm contrite enough I get to go back to my desk?" she asks. The man asks if she fell in love with Simon Fischer. She says yes. "So you were unable to separate your personal life from your professional life?" he asks. She points out the Agency wanted her to blur them, and she's very good at it. Someone brings him a note. There's been a change of plans. Annie returns to Langley.Auggie's waiting for her with a hug. He asks about the farm. She wants to know why she was only there for two hours. She remembers there was something he wanted to tell her face to face. He suggests she settle in first. Annie returns to stares from everyone. Joan informs her they're going to Code Orange, which means uncleared visitors. Eyal walks in with Rivka Singer, with Mossad. Yesterday, one of their assets, a Swiss national named Karina went missing in the U.S. Mossad wants the CIA's help finding her using their voice recognition system. They offer in return to share their intelligence from Karina, who works on private jets carrying Saudi oil men. They gave her a watch that can read all their data. Annie talks to Eyal, who wants to meet Auggie, the one with the plan to save Annie. Eyal bear hugs him. After Eyal and Rivka leave, Joan tells Annie she's back provisionally. She'll have to get a new safe house and cover ID, she'll no longer work at the Smithsonian. She tells Annie that Rivka only came because Eyal couldn't negotiate this on his own. She wants Annie to bring the watch to Langley, but not share the intel with Eyal. Joan says they have to assume Mossad isn't telling them everything. Annie takes Eyal to the hotel where their voice recognition placed Karina."Just because I saved you out of a Russian prison doesn't mean you owe me," he says."I didn't say I did.""Why not? I saved you out of a Russian prison," he says. They go in the room, Annie hears someone hiding in a cabinet. She helps Karina out. She's relieved Annie isn't Israeli, then she sees Eyal. Her purse was stolen and when she came back her house was ransacked, but nothing was taken. She thinks it was the weird man who came up to her on the plane and asked her how she started working for the airline. She says she wants out, but Eyal says no. Annie tries to smooth things over and asks about the watch. Eyal offers $500,000 for it. Karina says it's her only leverage. Then she clutches her stomach in pain and drops to the floor, dead. Back and Langley, Joan says the ME says Karina was poisoned 24 hours ago. Annie asks Rivka if she can share anything about the intel. Rivka gets angry, calling the question inappropriate and insulting Annie as an operative. Eyal sticks up for her.Annie suggests they can continue the mission. Arthur calls for Annie to tell her she's getting the Intelligence Metal of Merit, the award with the cash payment. He says they're proud of her. He tells her Joan was deeply distraught while Annie was in Russia. Meanwhile, Joan has lunch with Seth. She's worried about Annie. "I see her falling into all the same patterns I did," she says.He suggests she talk to her."How can I do that without... compromising my position?" Joan says.Seth puts his hand on Joan's and reassures her she'll reach Annie. Annie visits Auggie, who has ID'd the man Karina described: Griffin Kohl, ex-CIA. He uses ricin. Now he works for Khaleed Ansari, son of one of the most powerful oil men in Saudi Arabia. Annie takes the info to Joan, who says Khaleed is untouchable -- his dad plays golf with the vice president. Annie wants to move forward but Joan wants to call it off. Annie now thinks she can find out what Eyal is after and get to the watch first. Joan worries Eyal is handling Annie. Annie drives to the last place Karina visited yesterday morning, per traffic cams Auggie hacked into. She's about to use her metal detector when Eyal strolls up. He left a GPS in her car. Eyal tells her Mossad thinks Khaleed is using charities to funnel terror funds and they think that info is on the watch. They search and Eyal digs. In Mossad, when you return home after capture, they throw you a feast in the desert. He asks what the CIA does."Pay you off," Annie says.Eyal hits something and takes out a small box with a key in it. Joan tells Rivka they can't use Agency resources to break into the safety deposit box without alerting other agencies and blowing their cover. Annie offers to pose as Karina. Rivka hates the idea, but Joan offers to wire her. Eyal worries about Annie being unprotected in the vault and Karina's killer coming after her. She points out they might already be onto it with the contents of her purse.Rivka agrees, but Eyal doesn't like it. Annie tells Joan what Eyal said, Annie believes him. Privately, Rivka chews out Eyal for involving Annie and defending her. He says he's protecting the mission. Rivka asks if he's sleeping with her. He says no, and she says why not, it might speed things along. Auggie finds Annie cramming to pose as Karina, wearing the key from Simon's sister around her neck. She comments on her weird day, starting out at the farm. Arthur sees Joan coming out of somewhere at Langley in front of Seth. When Arthur asks, she pretends she didn't see Seth. Annie goes home to her empty house, where Lena killed Simon and shot her. She has trouble going in the door and heads to a hotel instead. She says she'll be staying for awhile. Metropolitan Bank, Alexandria, Va. Annie goes into the bank and gives all Karina's details. The first signature doesn't match. Annie signs again and it goes through. Mossad's feed cuts out as she enters the vault, as they expected. The bank manager leaves Annie alone and she opens up the safe deposit box. She takes out the watch. She's locked in the vault when Griffin Kolhl strolls up demanding the watch. He tapped into the bank security and knows Eyal is her only back-up. She takes the watch box out of her pocket and hands it over. She yells to be let out of the vault and the manager comes. Eyal sees Griffin leave out the back and follows him. Griffin goes up on a roof and puts on rappelling gear. Annie runs up and grabs the watch case from Griffin, but he struggles with her and rappels down awkwardly, landing funny on his leg. He limps away. Annie tells Eyal he got away. Then she tells him she's tried keeping secrets from people closest to her, but it didn't work. She shows him she's wearing the watch. "This belongs to both of us," she says. At Langley, Annie accepts her award from Arthur. At the cocktail party later, Joan tells Annie she's confident they'll find Griffin and analysts are going through the intel from the watch now. She races to talk to Annie before Arthur comes over, saying she knows Annie is close to Eyal. "I know that kinship can be comforting, but he works for a competing service, Annie," Joan says. She's worried about it being a pattern. "What I mean is, the people you can count on are here," Joan says. Annie doesn't seem to get her message. She leaves before Auggie can say good-bye. Annie comes back to her hotel and finds Eyal waiting in the lobby. He tells her it's depressing and to go get her bag. Joan and Seth walk into the secret room they were coming out of before. It's a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. Eyal leads Annie to an apartment, his place in DC. He offers to let her stay until she's back on her feet. He says he has a flight to catch, but she asks him to stay and eat with her. Auggie goes to Annie's place, but can't see that it's dark and empty. Eyal asks Annie how long until her supervisors realize she shared her intel. She doesn't care. They paired them because they work well together, they don't get to have it both ways.Eyal says she could have never told him she had the watch and asks why she shared it with Mossad."I didn't share it with Mossad, I shared it with you," she says as he puts on his coat to leave. He says good-night and leaves. Later, he gets in Rivka's waiting car. He gives her the intel from the watch, saying Annie gave it to him."So, you are the right man for this job," she says, asking if he'll initiate the next phase."Like we discussed," he says. She asks where Annie's staying. "At her place," Eyal says.

Rock 'n' Roll Suicide
Annie pulls the trigger in the...
more
Annie pulls the trigger in the Russian lake cabin, leaving Lena dead on the floor. Her phone rings, it's Auggie, wondering where she is. She goes outside, telling him she's coming home, when she hears movement in the woods. She runs. Shots barely miss her. She takes the SIM card out of her phone and throws the phone. She runs, hiding from Russian police on ATVs. One speeds toward her and she steps out and whacks him off his ride. Two more men come out with guns and she puts up her arms. Then she attacks, disarming one. She keeps fighting as more men come out of the woods until one comes up behind her and knocks her out. Later, Annie is lead shackled and blindfolded through a dank Russian prison. She's led into an interrogation room, where a man named Alexei questions her. She sticks with her cover ID, speaking in Russian, but he claims she's Annie Walker, sent here to murder her former CIA boss. He takes out her phone and says the last number was to Mingus, who he says is her handler. He takes out a diagram linking Mingus to Auggie Anderson. She realizes there's no point pretending. Back at Langley, they meet to figure out a contingency plan. It's been four days since they heard from Annie. Worst case is that she's been captured and can't hold up under interrogation.Joan is confident she will, but she has to review the operations that Annie knows about. Later, Joan accuses Arthur of being impersonal about it. He tells Joan her resignation isn't the only one being discussed. He assures her they're working on what to do about Annie.Joan worries that Annie didn't understand the implications of "will deny all knowledge" before she went. Joan pops a pill. In her cell, the Russians play an irritating high pitched white noise to drive Annie to the edge. When she uses her mattress to block out the noise, they take it.Alexei talks to Annie again, asking what Simon told her about his missions. She gives him nothing. Back at Langley, it's now been two weeks since she disappeared. Auggie busts into Arthur's office demanding they do something. He suggests a rescue operation to the prison where he guesses Annie is being held, which Arthur calls a suicide mission. He says he's had teams working up plans since she disappeared but none of them have been deemed feasible. He tells Auggie that until facts change on the ground, he can't do anything. In her cell, Annie busts up a rusted piece of bed and wraps shirt cloth around it to make a weapon. In interrogation, Alexei thinks he's getting through to Annie and uncuffs her so she can write out answers to his questions. She attacks, but he almost immediately disarms her.He tells her now is when they introduce harsher interrogation methods, but not on her -- on Simon's sister, Zaria. Annie paces in her cell, holding in rage and tears. When she lies down, she hears gunshots outside her cell. Someone tosses a gas mask through the door. It opens, she puts it on. He leads her out, past bodies on the ground. She pauses to get Alexei's pocket watch from him. Her rescuer leads her out through the prison walls and up through a street grate. The heavily fortressed prison is in the middle of a neighborhood lined with trees. Her rescuer takes off his gas mask. It's Eyal (Oded Fehr), her old Mossad spy friend. "Sorry to drop in unannounced. I didn't have your phone number. You weren't doing anything today, were you?" he asks. She hugs him, collapsing. He drives her to an apartment. He gives her a change of clothes, checks her passport and gives her her go bag. She's in stunned silence. He tells her to take the 14 minutes they have to take a shower. He gets online to establish protocol. He's not there on Mossad business. "Just know that you have at least one really good friend back home," he tells her. He posts on a dog chat room. "Found: One Female Collie. House-trained. Not Spayed. Contact E." Back at Langley, Auggie gets the message. He goes to see Arthur. "Let me get this straight, you staged an unsanctioned off-book one-man jailbreak with an operative from a competing spy service? That's what you took from our last meeting?" Arthur says. Auggie hasn't had the chance to tell Joan yet, she's not in her office. Arthur guesses the Russians will now plan to shoot Annie on sight. Annie will take the train to Helsinki with a clean ID. There will be too many road blocks so Auggie knows they'll need help. There are no operatives in Moscow since Lena burned them, so they'll try to get some in from Helsinki, which gives Annie and Eyal a few hours on their own. Eyal tells Annie they have a train to catch, but she wants to get Simon's sister safe first. He tries to point out how dangerous it is, but she's not listening. Annie and Eyal stake out the café. She goes inside. Zaria is glad to see she's alive. She grew up around spies and has a packed bag waiting. Annie is dismayed to see her passport is in her real name. Annie gives Zaria hers, cutting out the picture and replacing it. Zaria gives Annie the key to her family's steamer trunk, the one Simon told her about, telling Annie she is her family now. They hug good bye. Annie joins Eyal waiting nervously outside and they head to the train station. There are cops everywhere. As they walk past, Eyal kisses Annie to hide her face. There are FSB at every train entrance. Annie sees Alexei on the platform. Annie and Eyal jog and Alexei chases them. They cross tracks in front of a moving train and get away, but get separated. Annie hides, waiting for Alexei. She disarms him but he fights back. He pins her, but she throws him off, getting his gun. He disappears and Eyal finds her. Back at Langley, they've lost contact with Annie. Joan finally joins Arthur and Auggie after having been unreachable. Annie and Eyal regroup at the apartment, where she confesses she gave her go bag to Zaria. He points out that was their only lifeline and suggests if she lost the will to live in prison, she better shake it off. She says she's ready to go home. Auggie posts on the chat room. At Langley, Auggie locates the transponder of a cargo plane. Both pilots are loyal to Poland, they've planned to keep the cargo bay door open until 7 p.m. to give Annie and Eyal a chance to make it on board. On the road to the airstrip, Annie looks at the pocket watch she lifted from Alexei. Eyal is surprised at the name, their intel said a guy name Olag would handle her interrogation. They stop where the map says. Eyal asks what Annie was asked. She tells him it was about Simon's ops, but she didn't know the answers. The scariest part was he didn't believe her. They find the airstrip, it's fenced and heavily guarded. Eyal is open to suggestions. Back at the car, Annie sits beside it like she's hurt and two guards come to investigate. One sees her photo on his wanted poster and is about radio in when Eyal knocks him out. They take the car and their uniforms. The plane leaves in two minutes. At the checkpoint, the guard waves them through. They drive to the cargo plane and climb on. The bay door closes. Inside, Annie asks Eyal if he took the mission because he felt guilty about giving her the file on Simon. She says not to, she knew made her own choies. "I'm Jewish, what do I know from guilt?" he jokes. He says he was going to be in the neighborhood anyway. Back at Langley, they watch the screen, watching the cargo plane taxi down the runway. Suddenly, the plane stops and the cargo door opens. Alexei stands outside, surrounded by armed men. They have no choice but to surrender. Alexei takes Annie and Eyal back in a transport van. He doesn't know Eyal's real name. His passport says Mark Sanderson. Alexei contemplates his pocket watch. She says it shows sentimentality, and it also shows he's not Olag. She accuses him of stepping in to interrogate her at the last minute out of fear over what she might say, that Simon told her Alexi was a traitor who was double dealing.Alexei thinks she's bluffing. Eyal follows her lead, saying it's all in the file they were assembling. He says he's Mossad. Annie knows Alexei is in trouble if even part of what she's saying is true. She suggests he take the clean Mark Sanderson passport and start a new life where the FSB can't find him.He asks what happens if he shoots them both. Annie says the details of the ID will be sent to the FSB if they're not safe in 24 hours. Alexei stops the van. He takes them into the woods and fires over their heads, saying they'll be reported dead. He tells them to head to the nearest port 20 km north. Annie confesses to Eyal she made a calculated guess to bluff him. Eyal and Annie head to freedom on a shipping vessel. He brings her blankets and asks when the last time she slept was. He's reminiscing about their close call when she drifts off.

Annie checks her scars and gets ready...
more
Annie checks her scars and gets ready for some sneaking around in black, with a gun. She scales a fence in full cat burglar mode and breaks into a sealed crime scene, Lena's apartment. She goes downstairs and finds a piano. She taps on the keys and a strike team comes in, telling her to freeze."Tell Joan Campbell I need to see her, I figured it out," she says. Annie meets with Joan and Arthur. She tells them an FSB operative named Dmitri who was in Nairobi when Lena was, his code name was " Rachmaninoff" - he was a talented concert musician but also was believed to have killed two people with piano wire. She went through the 1998 cables and found his name in one from Lena. They think Lena has already fled to Russia. Anne has found a Dmitri working in a music store in Moscow and thinks it's the same one. She wants to approach him for intel on Lena.Arthur and Joan are against it- Lena has killed every agent they've sent after her. They're pursuing diplomatic channels. Annie trains with Auggie in the gym. He heard about last night and thinks she needs to take it easy. She punches again and ignores her bullet wound when it starts to bleed. Later, Joan stops by Annie's house. Annie is packing. Joan realized Annie wasn't asking for permission earlier, she was telling them she was going. Joan is willing to support her, but tells her to only take a picture of Lena then come home. She's on her own if Russian authorities catch her. Joan reminds Annie that Lena knows her and is hoping her feelings for Simon will cloud her judgment.Joan tells her to stay focused, then hugs her -- a first. The next morning, Auggie joins Annie on her ride to the airport. He gives her a plane ticket and a stern warning to be careful. She can't have any contact with Langley in Russia."I am here for you no matter what," he says."That means so much for me, I hope you know that," she says. Annie arrives in Moscow. She uses the key Auggie gave her to the apartment of a former CIA asset, now dead. There's a note from Auggie and a backpack full of cash waiting for her. There's a knock at the door, a woman named Katarina with the mail for the former tenant, who she doesn't know is dead.Annie burns the mail. The next day, she goes to the music store, introducing herself as Pinja Stanis, the former asset. She asks Dmitri for piano lessons. He says no.She asks again, then asks to see her hands. She plays for him. He tells her to stop, then says no lessons. The next day, she goes back again. He ignores her. She trains in the apartment and goes back the next day. He ignores her. She paces the apartment and gets antsy."Screw it," she decides. She goes into a café and speaks English. She notices Simon's tattoo symbol in her tea cup. She leaves, expecting to be followed. When she is, she runs into a restaurant to get away. She comes out the back, but is grabbed from behind by Dmitri, holding a piano wire across her throat."Who are you?" he demands."I came for you, Rachmaninoff," she says. He looked into Pinja, she was left handed, and Annie played with a dominant right. Annie tells him she wants to talk about Lena Smith. He tells her they met in Nairobi in 1998 after the bombing. They started dating and he thought he'd turned her. But she made a deal with her bosses to get a promotion and turn him in.So he returned to Moscow, no Lena and no job. Annie tells him Lena took something from her, she came for justice. He says he can't help and asks her to leave him alone. Back home, Joan confesses that she's backing Annie on her trip. Arthur points out he could fire her for going against him."How's it going to look if she dies?" he asks."How's it going to look? I don't know, but it will feel terrible," she says. Back at the café, Annie tells the waitress, Zaria, that she knew her brother, Simon. She knows about her, Simon spoke of Annie often.Zaria was his "bright star," the one he got his tattoo for.Annie tells her that Simon was happy before he died. Annie finds Dmitri again. She tries to urge him to make a difference, skipping all the spy tricks and telling him honestly that she needs him. He takes her to a cage match to talk to Sergei, the only one he stays in touch with from those days. He's very nervous to talk to her. She stares him down, then shows him her giant backpack of cash as she asks about Lena.He tells her the apartment where Lena is living in the penthouse, ferried to and from biweekly debriefings. He says Lena can't be gotten to."I need a gun," Annie announces. Dmitri gets her a small pistol -- his own. She takes target practice, but her wound flares up. He sees her bullet scars. He advises her to go home. She wants to stick to the plan to get the picture tomorrow."Trust me, no good can come of this," he says."I'm not looking for good," she says. The next day, Dmitri and Annie stake out Lena's Mercedes. He gives her a countdown and she rushes out with spikestrips. The car hits it and screeches to a halt. Annie runs over, breaks the window and aims her camera and gun at the backseat. But instead of Lena, she's facing a man with an automatic weapon. She turns and runs, he fires and chases her. Dmitri picks her up and they drive off. Joan gets notice from Seth from OIG that the State Department heard about Annie's operation. It doesn't look good and people are saying it could be the end of Arthur. Annie and Dmitri go back to his shop. She pulls a gun on him. "I should be dead right now, so you need to start talking," she says. Annie wants to know why the guy in the car hesitated. He tells her he thought he was being followed soon after Annie came for lessons. Then Lena reappeared. He choked her, she kissed him. "Pure emotion -- I could feel again," he says. Lena wanted to use the ambush to discredit Annie. He tells her that Lena wants Annie alive and wants to see her.He tells Annie where to find her. She leaves. Joan visits Arthur, turning in her letter of resignation. He says he'll take it under consideration. Auggie calls Annie to warn her that the police are looking for her and she needs to get out."This isn't the agency calling and I'm not Joan. There things that I need to say to you face to face, important things. Please," he says."See you soon," she says. Annie pays Simon's sister a visit in the café and they share a cup of tea. Annie followed by several men as she leaves. They catch up with her in the Metro and stop her -- but it's not Annie. It's Simon's sister. Meanwhile, Annie sneaks up on Lena at her lake house. Lena is waiting for her, defenseless."If you pull the trigger, you'll never know the truth about Simon," Lena says. "Were Simon and I friends, colleagues, lovers?" They never met face to face. She picked Simon because he was her type. She expected Annie to fall for him, but didn't expect him to fall for her.Jai was onto her, so she had Leo Brewer take him out. She needed somebody to take the fall and Annie was available, vulnerable and ready to prove herself. She suggests Annie become a double, like her, to experience power. Annie sits down at the table with Lena, who points out she had the power to summon Annie to the woods. Lena wants her to show her the game.Lena tells Annie she'll never make it out of Russia and the worst part will be the knowledge that she killed for malice. We see the gun down the back of Lena's pants as she stalls and dares Annie to fire. Finally, Lena makes a move for her gun. And Annie shoots.Lena drops dead to the floor.

Annie and Auggie pay a visit to Jai's...
more
Annie and Auggie pay a visit to Jai's safe house. Auggie tells Annie that Arthur expressly told him not to talk to Henry, but he didn't want to feel like he failed. They enter apartment #317 in suburban Fairfax. There are boxes of papers everywhere. Outside, a car is racing down the street. There are maps with dates and times on the wall. The car keeps racing. They think they're looking at what got Jai killed. Annie opens a file and sees a photo of Simon Fischer, her asset/boyfriend. Arthur gets out of the racing car, he pulls up to the same apartment building. He knocks on the door. Annie answers, she called him. It's 3 a.m. Arthur takes in the surveillance photos. He knows Auggie talked to Henry. Arthur tells Annie to pack everything up and bring it to his office. Annie looks at the photos of Simon, full of questions. Back at Arthur's office, Joan has joined them. Jai believed that six of his 50 mission were blown because of leaks. Annie remembers Jai claimed a connection outside of Langley. Arthur mentions Fischer. They know he's in DC. They think Fischer killed Jai and want to find him. Annie tells them she's been developing him as an asset and the relationship has turned intimate. She tells them he killed his handler in Cuba for her. They meet with Lena (Sarah Clarke), who says Annie was following her orders. She says Annie's work on the case was remarkable. Arthur wants Annie to set up a meet so they can grab him. Instead, she says Simon is a man of integrity and will listen if they approach him with respect. She thinks she can bring him in willingly. Arthur goes for it. Annie calls Simon but gets his voice mail. She tries again and reaches him. She asks to meet him -- now. Joan and Lena run into each other in the elevator. Lena compliments Joan for training Annie well. Joan's not mad at Annie, she's mad at Lena for bending rules. She expects fallout. Lena says Annie just needed someone to trust her. Joan visits Arthur, concerned about the small team he's sending. But he thinks secrecy is the way to go until they know who to trust. Arthur heads to Petersburg Prison to visit Henry (Gregory Itzin) to find out what else he's holding back. He says it's not about what he wants. In the van, Annie realizes she'll be on her own with Simon because the meet location will be packed. Auggie outfits her with a lapel mike and he and Annie make plans for drinks after the mission. Annie goes to meet Simon in the mall. Joan and Arthur listen to her miked audio back at Langley. Annie waits, getting nervous. Finally, Simon shows up. Annie tells him he's not safe in DC. "My employer is willing to offer you a deal," she tells him, and asks him to come in with her. He claims he knew who she worked for when she hit his car that first day. She asks him directly if he killed Jai. He says no, but she thinks FSB did. He points out he's not exactly working with them anymore. He's a man without a country. She asks him again to come in with her, so they won't have to say good-bye. He asks if he can trust her. "Always," she says. He asks if she came alone. She says it was a sign of good faith. Simon sees someone following him, pulls out his pistol and shoots. Annie grabs Simon and they run down the escalator, leaping off to get away from someone else. They head into a department store and into the back, where they escape out the back door. Annie tells them they don't have a lot of time. Simon starts to talk but she stops him, silently pointing out her microphone and taking it off, then stomping on it. In the van, Auggie loses his connection. "This may have started out as a mission, but it turned into something more. I don't want to lose you and if you come in, we could still be together," she tells him. He considers her, but tells her good-bye and sorry. She tells him she's not sorry. He walks away. Back at Langley, Annie feels all eyes on her. Auggie says the shooter wasn't Agency sanctioned. Joan and Arthur want to follow the shooter to find Simon. They pull up security footage. Annie recognizes him from the diner the day when Jai was killed. Though the CIA soon identifies him as explosives expert and free-lance assassin Leo Brewer and links him to the bomb that killed Jai, they still don't know who Brewer is working for. Annie insists on going to the motel where they've traced Brewer to. She reminds the tactical team he has to be taken alive. They storm the motel. Annie sees him walk out of a room and jump over the balcony, holding his wounded shoulder where Simon had shot him. Annie scales the fence and follows him. She corners him. He turns around with the gun in his hand and looks at all the agents facing him. After a pause, he puts the gun in his mouth and pulls the trigger. Auggie listens to the last few seconds of audio from Annie's mike before she crushed it and realizes what he's listening to. Annie visits Joan, who is not mad at her. Joan wants to focus on linking the shooter to Simon. Annie asks about staying in Joan's division but Joan says the decision is out of her hands. Annie visits Auggie, who plays her the audio of her crushing the mike. He asks her if she let Simon go. She doesn't answer. Auggie asks her if she loves him. She doesn't answer. Annie leaves Danielle a message asking her to call. Arthur visits Henry in prison again, showing him a picture of Brewer. Henry says made Brewer and last he heard he was rotting in a South American prison. Arthur tells Henry that Brewer killed Jai, on orders from the Russians. Annie visits Lena, who says she's proud of Annie. Lena points out that even if Simon got away, Annie uncovered a jamming device in Cuba. Lena says Annie did exactly what she would have in her place and she'll be recognized for it as a top operative. Then Lena takes her report to Arthur, saying they need to talk about Annie. Annie drives home and gets a call from Auggie telling her to come back to Langley, there's a team going through her desk. Annie looks in her house and sees Simon waiting for her. She hangs up with Auggie. "I don't want to lose you, either," Simon tells her. But he doesn't want asylum, he's tired of playing the spy game. He asks her to come away with him. He has a small island off the Maldives that's reachable only by boat and is off the grid. He has been cultivating a false ID there for a decade and invites her to join him. She doesn't think it would work, but he says he's thought of everything. "Will you come with me?" he asks. "Yes," she says. She goes through her room and packs up her passports and photo of her nieces. But she stops on the photo. She calls Auggie and tells him she's coming in. She goes back to Simon, saying they have to talk. He sees Lena in the doorway first and moves to protect Annie. Lena fires two shots at him, killing him. She shoots Annie twice in the chest next (no surprise to anyone who remembers the first two seasons of 24). Annie drops to the kitchen floor and lies there.

Annie tries to get info from Simon...
more
Annie tries to get info from Simon about his upcoming business trip. He suggests she come -- to Cuba. Annie goes to Lena's house and tells her she wants to go. Lena reminds her the Agency couldn't come get her if she got caught. Lena can't approve it, but she can't stop Annie either. She tells Annie she'll fix her up with a new passport so the Agency can't track her. At Langley, Auggie asks Annie about her trip and she claims vacation. She tells him she's going to babysit for Danielle's girls. He can tell something's up. Lena picks up Annie's fake passport and brings it to her. She gets through customs in Mexico without no problems, then on to Cuba. At the airport, Simon and Annie hop on his waiting motorcycle. At their vacation house, Simon takes her passport to keep it in the safe. Annie hands it over, hoping she's not making a huge mistake. Back at Langley, Joan asks Lena if she's seen Annie, mentioning she asked for a transfer. Lena suggests Joan ease up on the micromanaging. Auggie asks Arthur to get let back in to Jai's investigation. Auggie wants to talk to Henry Wilcox, but Arthur think it's a waste of time. "Operatives who get arrested in bar fights don't get to question their boss' judgment," Arthur says. In Cuba, Annie is moved by a street singer singing about taking chances in life. Simon wishes he could see the world the way Annie does. Joan reverses course and tells Arthur she supports him going for the Chinese Ambassador job, she offers to host a dinner. Over dinner, Simon tells Annie about defecting from Moscow when he was eight. A man eyes them. He asks Annie about moving around as an army brat.He leaves Annie at dinner for a meeting, saying he'll meet her back at the house in an hour. Annie follows him, walking down the streets of Cuba. When he hops on his bike, she buys one from someone on the street and follows. At his meeting, Simon meets the man from the restaurant behind barbed wire. Annie climbs up rocky cliffs to get a view of them. She trips and knocks a stone down the hill but they keep walking away from her. She comes upon a giant array in the hillside. She calls Lena, who knows from her directions she went to the KGB's old largest listening station. Annie says it's operational. With the chips Simon stole, they can turn it into a cellular jamming station, interrupting FAA and all kinds of signals.Annie tells her about her locked up passport. From Annie's description, Lena recognizes Hector Serrano as FSB's top man in Cuba. He's a former FSB hitman, Lena tells Annie she's not safe and to stay away from him. Annie goes back to the house. Simon notices the cut on her ankle and introduces their dinner guests, Blanca and her boyfriend Hector Serrano. Blanca tells Annie they get to see Simon every few weeks, because of a deal he's working on with Hector. She mentions it's almost done. Annie compliments Cuba and Hector finds it condescending. He tries to drag Annie into a debate about the embargo. Joan and Arthur prep for their dinner guests. He's also getting into flyfishing to impress a crony. Petersburg Prison, VirginiaAuggie visits Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin). He starts immediately by accusing Henry of withholding information. Henry shuts down the interview and leaves. Blanca apologizes for Hector. She says most of Simon's girlfriends want something from him. She says she's never seen Simon so happy. Later, the couples dance. Hector eyes Annie and tries to cut in. Simon says no, but Annie tells him it's OK. He starts in with the intimidation, telling her he's never met a mid-level museum worker with so many opinions about international politics. He asks her what her sister Danielle does for a living. Annie is visibly thrown since she never mentioned Danielle. She cuts short the dance. Later, speaking Russian, Hector tells Simon that Annie is not what she seems and she poses a serious problem to their business deal. Simon says he has it under control, but Hector tells Simon he'll do something about her if Simon won't. Simon finds Annie in the bedroom. She tells him what Blanca said. He agrees, saying he's never met anyone like her. She asks if the trip was too much too soon. They agree to go home tomorrow. But first, they spend the night in bed. At Joan and Arthur's dinner party, they charm their guests, who tell him he's a shoo-in for the nomination and will sail through the confirmation hearings. He mentions that the timing for Arthur "couldn't be any better" because everyone knows his investigation has turned up nothing. He suggests Arthur can take the job and leave the mess to the next guy. Arthur bristles and insults his guest, ending the dinner. Later, while cleaning up, Arthur starts throwing china. In the morning, Simon tells Annie they're going sightseeing with Hector before their noon flight. She gets into a car with them looking very concerned. Hector sits in the back seat behind her as they drive out into the countryside. They pull up to a warehouse, Simon bribes the guard and shows Annie in, explaining they don't allow talking in the floor. It's a cigar-rolling factory, where women work in silence as a man preaches. Annie grabs a tobacco cutter while Hector isn't looking. Simon shows Annie to the storage room and insists she go first. He locks her in. She looks through the peephole as he takes out a knife and slits Hector's throat. He lets her out, telling her they have to go. They get back in the car and he takes her to the airport. He tells her he'll see her soon. He gives her a postcard of Cuba, just like her dad used to get for her after each move. "Love makes u s do remarkable things," he tells her. He gives her her passport back and kisses her good bye. Back in Petersburg prison, Auggie summons Henry again. Auggie tells Henry about meeting Jai for the first time and being impressed by his unstoppable thirst for knowledge and interest in solving puzzles. Henry asks what he could get for his information. "Nothing," Auggie tells him, saying Jai's murder will go unsolved if he doesn't help.Henry gives up the location of Jai's safehouse. The next day, Joan asks Arthur about him tanking the nomination. He doesn't want to leave the investigation into Jai's death unfinished. Joan wants to know what's going on, but Arthur shuts down. Annie debriefs Lena, who can't believe Simon killed his handler, the ultimate spy transgression. She thinks Simon is in love with her and that means they can manipulate him to do whatever they want. Annie tries to look excited about it.

Sana'a, Yemen:Office of the Prime...
more
Sana'a, Yemen:Office of the Prime Minister The Prime Minister plays chess with his chief of staff on his balcony when suddenly he grips at his chest and goes rigid. Langley, Virginia:Joan (Kari Matchett) briefs the troops. The PM is being allowed into the country only for surgery following his heart attack. The CIA is staying out of it. Annie (Piper Perabo) guesses the State Department is trading the medical access for lower gas prices. In front of everyone, Annie says she wants to try to turn the PM's chief of staff, Sayid al Moukri. He was a grad student at Oxford.Tthere was an unsigned editorial condemning the Cole bombing attack, Annie thinks he wrote it. She claims he's ambitious and being under-utilized at home and wants a way to contribute. Joan rejects the plan as too risky. Later, Annie drops by Joan's office to make her pitch again, saying she has a lot in common with him. Joan finally says OK, telling Annie not to get caught and to bail at the first sign of trouble. She'll have three hours during the surgery. Auggie (Christopher Gorham) intercepts Annie. She asks about Parker and his bar fight. Annie thinks Joan was behind the cogent profile Eyal was ordered to do. Auggie doesn't think it's the worst idea. He tells Annie what she's trying for is a huge gamble. It's OK to bail. Sayid and the PM arrive at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, heavily guarded by the State Department. The surgery starts, along with Annie's three hour countdown. She grabs a magazine and sits down in the waiting room. When Sayid goes for a cigarette, Annie twirls her lighter and offers to show him a secret place where it's OK to smoke. She takes him to the roof. She greets him by name. He immediately knows she's CIA. She quotes his editorial. He denies writing it. She tries to convince him to just talk, saying she's not part of a government conspiracy. She fought hard to be able to come personally to talk to him. He thinks there can be no dialogue given that she knows everything about him. He knows nothing about her. She gives her name. He tells her not to approach him again and leaves. This is the moment she's supposed to go home. Instead, Annie goes downstairs and finds State Department people closing in on her. She makes it through a door and thinks she's safe, but runs smack into Steve Barr with the State Department. He calls Arthur (Peter Gallagher) and Joan while he detains Annie. Arthur apologizes while Joan defends. Arthur agrees to send Annie home. State personnel walk Annie out of the hospital. She calls Auggie to play "what if," asking hypothetically what she should do. He suggests she's barred from the hospital. She uses the time she has left to get Sayid out of the building to talk. Auggie goes to his psych appointment and suggests a field trip. Annie goes to the nearest convenience store and buys all the cigarettes. Back in DC, Auggie takes his shrink outside to teach her how to cross the street blindfolded so she understands him better. Sayid conveniently comes into the convenience store for a pack. Annie tries again, telling him he seems like a leader. She objects to him seeing her as the Agency but admits her country is only interested in his because they have oil. Annie goes back to the article again, quotes part of it from memory and suggests they build a bridge between their two nations. Annie sees a State department SUV and tells him his being off hospital grounds is a violation and puts them both at risk. They run. Annie and Sayid race across traffic to a neighborhood and down and alley. They duck into a mechanic's garage as two guys in suits follow. They hide behind cars and duck out as the State guys look around. Back in DC, Auggie gives Suzanne (Daniella Alonso) direction as she attempts to cross the street. She veers off course and gets honked at, but he makes her cover her eyes again and keep going. Once across, she's ready to do it again. Annie leads Sayid to a diner so they can talk. He says he doesn't like Western food, but then gets a burger. Back at Langley, Joan tells Arthur she and Annie both showed initiative. She reminds him he hates State Department people. She thinks he's acting like he's halfway out the door on his way to the Chinese Ambassador job. "The choice I made today was the right call given the facts that I had," he says. She tells him he'll make a great politician. In the diner, Sayid tells Annie how his parents were friends with the PM and he moved into the palace when he was 12. He helped nurse an injured bird back to health but remembers learning the lesson of not releasing it before it was ready. Annie thinks it's a progressive political thought for his country. Annie tells him she's disagreed with her mentors many times, but they believe in her. He suggests what it would feel like to lose that. "Is this how the CIA works, you talk to people like they are on Oprah's couch?" he asks. Annie walks him back to the hospital. There are still State people out front so they circle the block. He tells her he's sorry it didn't work out. He just wants the PM to recover. Annie tells him he must not have written the article. The author had courage and vision. He's full of fear and caution. "How do you convince someone in 10 minutes that you believe in them more than they believe in themselves? Be grateful for what Azem has given you, but look for ways to realize your own potential. I am one of those ways -- we are, right now," she tells him. He tells her he can't. She walks away. He calls after her, asking questions about how they would keep him safe. He asks about protecting his family. Annie says she'd have to check. He memorizes her number and burns her contact card... it's printed on flash paper... then walks away. Annie calls Joan. She learns the PM had another heart attack. Annie races to catch Sayid as Joan tells her to get on a plane and avoid an international incident. On the street, Suzanne asks Auggie how he keeps going. He tells her about having his own street corner moment five years ago. He got frustrated, tossed his cane and walked into traffic, but he didn't get hit. He announces their session over. She accuses him of always trying to manage people and situations. Annie sneaks into the Mayo Clinic. She grabs a set of scrubs and goes up to the PM's floor, but gets spotted by State. They chase after her. She races away from them and gets into an elevator with Sayid, stopping it between floors. She tells him not to confuse the PM's second heart attack as a sign he has to stay put. She tells him her mentor (Joan) said they couldn't protect his family. She disagrees. He thinks she should understand his position. "Only a fool confuses fate with destiny. Fate is what happens to us, destiny is what we make in spite of our fate," she says, again quoting the article. He admits he wrote it and asks how she knew. She says it was courageous. He restarts the elevator and gets off. The State people grab Annie. Back in Langley, Annie watches news reports of the PM's death. Sayid is back in Yemen. Auggie tells Annie it's not her fault. Annie thought she had him. She worries about how angry Joan will be. Joan summons her. Instead of yelling, Joan asks Annie if she has any questions about why she couldn't grant Sayid's request. She tells Annie it's ok to be mad at the CIA, and even at her. Annie announces she's put in for a transfer and leaves. Heading toward her desk, Annie gets word. There's a Yemeni man on the Asset Line for her. She takes the call.

Auggie (Christopher Gorham) sobers up...
more
Auggie (Christopher Gorham) sobers up in jail. Arthur (Peter Gallagher) paid his bail, even though Auggie didn't call. He's not sympathetic to Auggie getting dumped. He takes the special investigation away from Auggie and sends him back to DPD. At Langley, Annie (Piper Perabo) tells Lena (Sarah Clarke) they need to talk. She thinks she has a way in with Simon. Lena doesn't want to get involved in a turf war with Joan (Kari Matchett). "I have privileged access to a top FSB operative, are you telling me I should walk away because someone decided to move my desk down the hall?" Annie shouts. "Have you developed feelings for this guy? Because you're fighting very hard with this," Lena says. She tells Annie again it's over. Annie is happy to see Auggie back in his office. She notices his busted up knuckles. He doesn't want to talk about it. Joan has a mission for Annie. Operatives in the field have discovered a piece of an Iranian missile copied from American designs. Annie butts in to Joan summarizing the situation, assuming Israel is involved. Annie's supposed to help survielle the architect of the technology, an American scientist named Isaac Reiss. Saul Berkowitz with Mossad will be running point. Joan mentions Annie's old flirt buddy Eyal (Oded Fehr) is out of the country. Annie steps off the plane in Israel and finds Eyal waiting. Saul Berkowitz got sick."The ten beers I bought him last night didn't help," he says. This is his chance to show her everything is better in Israel. Over dinner, Annie is worried they're not following the right guy because their intel is more than two days old. Reiss has been taking long walks around the city during the daytime heat. Mossad thinks he's doing dead drops. Eyal flirts heavily, but can tell Annie is conflicted about taking him up to her room. He thinks there's a man in her life. She assures him there isn't.He thinks she wants to talk about something. She doesn't trust him yet. Back in DC, Auggie reports to Joan's office, where she tells him he's being sent to mandated therapy. He thinks if he shows weakness, he'll be gone. Annie and Eyal meet with Dr. Isaac Reiss to offer him a fake job to see how he reacts. Annie wants to build a more complex profile, but Eyal urges her not to over-think it.While he's away, teams bug his office. Eyal tells Reiss they're building the next Concord and they want him to design it. They tell him he'd have to leave immediately. Reiss hesitates. Eyal pushes, saying they need his answer now. Isaac freezes. Annie tells him to think it over. Annie tries to talk to him casually, getting him to talk about the woman he's dating. Eyal continues to push. When the meeting ends, Eyal tells her Isaac was lying. They've been following him and he's not dating anyone. Back in his room, Annie and Eyal watch Isaac from across the street. Annie doesn't see why he'd lie about having a girlfriend and doesn't think he's a villain. Eyal accuses her of being too emotionally close. In therapy in DC, Auggie tells the shrink he doesn't need therapy. She urges him to talk to deal with anger to avoid another incident, but says she'll sign off on his form if he wants her to. She's surprised when he takes her up on it and walks out. In Israel, Isaac makes a call, telling someone he has exciting news that could change "everything for us."Eyal thinks it's code. Annie tells him to quit looking for conspiracies. He called a woman with an unlisted number with no outgoing message. Surveillance has never seen her. She's convinced him to keep their relationship secret at work. Annie realizes he's dating a spy. He probably doesn't even know she's stealing the technology. Annie wants to read Isaac in and make him an asset. She brushes off Eyal's objections. He tells her it's imperative she follow his lead. He confesses Langley wants him to run a profile on her in the field."My agency's investigating me?" she asks. He says they're just worried about her. It's common practice. She realizes he thinks they're right to be concerned. He knows about Jai being killed and assures her it's OK to feel whatever she's feeling. He says he doesn't know who ordered the assessment. Annie picks up the phone and has a non-informative conversation with Joan, but avoids confronting her. When she gets off the phone, Isaac calls. He asks her to meet alone at 4 p.m. Arthur meets with his ex-wife Gina (Rena Sofer), who informs him he's on the short list to be the new ambassador to China. It was something they wanted to do together. She says that doesn't matter now. Annie meets with Isaac, who explains leaving his company after all they've done for him is scary. He just has to convince his girlfriend taking the new job is a good idea. Annie asks about her. Isaac explains she doesn't like him talking about her to people he works with. Annie points out they don't work together yet.He talks. Her name is Lana. She's a scientist, too. He shows Annie a picture of her. Shots ring out. Annie takes off after the shooter with Eyal behind her. He dodges traffic and runs through town into a parking garage. He fires at her, then jumps off the second story. Annie climbs over to follow as Eyal shouts at her to stop. She jumps down and loses her gun. The gunman grabs it and has her dead to rights -- but suddenly he's plowed over by a passing car. Annie gives the shooter's phone to Eyal. She thinks he's going to tell Langley she's a loose cannon and she'll be done. "I know this life is so easy for you, but it isn't for me!" she says. He takes her to a kids' soccer game and points out his young son, whom he only gets to see from afar. "I struggle with this life, same as you. How strange it is, the cost. But you're working towards making this world a better place and you're not alone," he tells her. "It doesn't always feel that way," she says. He asks again what's bothering her. He gets a text that they found Isaac. Auggie pounds away on a heavy bag, trying to work out his anger. Then he goes back to therapy, but says it shouldn't be taken as a sign of growth. Arthur gives Joan the good news about the possible ambassador post. He put a word in with the East Asia desk and she could run the Bejing station. She's annoyed he talked to them before her. She doesn't want to go back in the field. He says he'll need his wife on his arm."Then you married the wrong kind of wife," she says. Back in Israel, Annie tells Eyal the name Simon Fischer. They find Isaac. He just figured out his girlfriend was a spy. Annie says he can help them bring her in. He agrees. Isaac waits as agents wire his room. Annie tries to keep him focused. They just need him to call her and ask to meet. Isaac tells Lana about getting shot at. She says she'll come over in an hour. He goes on, asking if she'd move back to the US with him. Annie and Eyal are trying to get him to wrap it up when Isaac looks down and sees her on the street below. She runs. Everybody chases. She hides behind a pillar and gets the jump on Eyal. She pulls a knife and pins him. Annie flies out and decks her. They take her in. Back at the airport, Eyal tells Annie he gave her a good review. And he has a file for her, even though Mossad is not in the business of sharing information. Annie thanks him and tells him she hopes they meet again under happier circumstances. She turns to leave. He stops her and tells her to be careful. He looks concerned. Back home, Annie closes her blinds and pulls out the file. It's Mossad's file on Simon Fischer, including photos of her with him. She calls Simon and asks to see him.

Annie (Piper Perabo) and Simon...
more
Annie (Piper Perabo) and Simon (Richard Coyle) wander romantically around Paris, then return to the hotel and get in bed. Annie asks casually about his business in Edinburgh, but he says its boring. He plugs his phone into the returned charger. RDI Industries, Reston, VA: A cat burglar sneaks into a heavily secured lab, through lasers and key pads. He opens several metal boxes and removes the contents. His watch counts down and as it hits zero, the alarms go off. He leaves the vault as the door closes, sealing the guards inside. He easily knocks over another who tries to stop him. Annie comes to work to find Lena arguing with someone on the phone. It's about the intel she got from the bugged charger. Simon contacted Mike O'Leary (usually referred to as "Mike O"), a cat burglar in DC. Two days ago, RDI reported a burglary. The company makes microchips for centrifuges and other defense-contracting high-tech providers. Every agency in DC wants on the case. Annie asks for permission to reach out to another agency. Lena (Sarah Clarke) says she's done enough. Annie calls Agent Vincent Rosabi (Noam Jenkins) at the FBI anyway. She meets with him and wants info on the break-in, saying the agency can provide valuable intel. Annie reports to Lena that she gave Mike O's name to the FBI. Lena worries it might lead the FBI to Simon. Annie thinks its fine because he's in Edinburgh. Auggie (Christopher Gorham) gets ready for work and Parker asks what he's working on. He gently tells her he can either ignore the question or lie to her and assures her they'll get through it. At work, Annie tells Auggie about Danielle (Anne Dudek) moving to California. He knows how hard it must be on Annie and suggests drinks tomorrow with Parker. Joan (Kari Matchett) goes through her polygraph about Jai, including whether he got along with Arthur. Or if Arthur told her Jai was after her job, which he did. At home, Annie helps oversee packing at Danielle's. She steps outside to order pizza. Simon calls. He's in DC outside the Smithsonian. Annie's game plans with Lena, who wants her to find out when Simon is making the exchange with Mike O., but not let Simon cross paths with any other agency. Annie comes down the stairs at the Smithsonian to meet Simon. He was hoping to stay with her. She suggests they see the sights first as she surreptitiously texts Lena. Lena puts her team on creating a vetted apartment with personal photos. Lena texts Annie the address. On the way there, Annie notices they're being followed and loses whoever it is by running a red light. At the apartment, Annie texts for info on the keys and gets the name "Taj." At the front desk, he greets her by name and gives her her mail. Danielle calls Annie, who's irritated Annie left without saying good-bye. She hears Simon in the background and thinks Annie blew her off for a guy. He asks where the wine opener is. Annie tells him the wrong drawer. Simon asks who she was talking to. She says she feels like she's letting a friend down. She feels like she misrepresented herself because its easy to pretend away from home. He kisses her and says he has a pretty good idea who she is. Auggie comes home late and finds Parker is still up. He walks into her suitcase. She tells him she can't marry him. She's not sure what their relationship is based on since they met in grief and she doesn't feel like she knows him. He begs her to stay the night so they can work it out like adults. Annie wakes up in the middle of the night and goes through Simon's things. He finds her with her hands in his suit pocket. She claims she's a neat freak and wants to hang his suits up. In the morning, Auggie wakes up in bed with Parker. She's wearing her engagement ring, but there's a honk outside, followed by another. He suggests he take the day off work, but realizes it's a cab honking. Parker gives him his ring back and gets up to leave. He pleads with her, telling her couples have arguments and work things out, they don't quit. She leaves. Auggie is distraught. Lying in bed, Annie traces Simon's tattoo. She recognizes it as a constellation. He says no one's ever figured it out before. He says it was based on the Keats poem "Bright Star." He asks about going to breakfast. At breakfast, Simon steps outside to take a call and Annie sees Agent Rosabi. He joins her. He denies the car trailing her was FBI, but says Mike O. checked out. He was supposed to meet a buyer in Scotland but bailed because he thought the TSA was on to him. Rosabi knows the European buyer is coming here, but they don't know who it is. They heard the buyer was meeting Mike today at 1 p.m. Rosabi invites her. Simon comes back in. Annie is forced to introduce them, saying they're in the same field. Rosabi realizes Simon is foreign. After Rosabi leaves, Simon tells Annie he has a meeting at 1p.m Back at her place, with Simon in the shower, Annie checks in with Lena. They don't want him to get busted at the meet because they'll lose their "in" into his world. Lena tells Annie to seduce him or break a wrist, but keep him from the meet. Annie tells Simon she doesn't think he should go. She feels like he's been evaluating her the whole time he's been there and not opening up. "We really can't talk about this later?" he asks. "Not if you walk out the door," she says. "I'm sorry then," Simon says as he leaves. Auggie calls Annie from the bar, wanting her to join him now. She tells him she can't right now. He's upset and hangs up on her. Annie meets Rosabi at the meet and tells him the buyer is a CIA asset. She asks him to stand down, but he points out other agencies are there, too. He can't call them off. She tells him she's invested more than ever before with this asset and she doesn't want it to be for nothing. Rosabi tells her the deal is for substrates, used to make microchips. They watch as Mike O. arrives. Annie sees a man in a suit walk past him and make the swap. Her heart sinks as the agencies go after him. She sees it's not Simon. Mike O. takes off running. Annie chases after him. She follows him into a topiary maze and tackles him through a hedge. Rosabi finds her. He's pissed because the substrates weren't in the briefcase. Rosabi was also expecting Simon. He tells her she burned a bridge today, but she doesn't know what happened. Meanwhile, Simon makes the exchange with the security guard from RDI who wasn't knocked over when Mike was escaping. At the bar, a girl starts talking to Auggie and her boyfriend gets jealous. He gives Auggie some friendly advice to be more careful who he talks to. He eggs Auggie on until finally Auggie smacks him over the head with a bottle. Back at Langley, Lena points out to Annie the mission is over, her cover is blown. She ran the plates on the car tailing them. They weren't government . . . which leaves Simon. Annie got played. Lena tells Annie she's being sent back to work with Joan in the DPD. Someone else will continue the operation on Simon. Annie brings her stuff back to Joan's department in a cardboard box. Her voice mail to Auggie plays over Auggie being put in the back of a police car. Annie goes home and finds it empty. Annie thinks she's gone, but Danielle comes in. Her flight was delayed. She's all packed, but there's ice cream left. The spoons are packed, so they share a spatula. "We don't have to say it, do we?" Annie asks. "I don't want this to be the end," Danielle tells her. Later, Annie walks down the street at night. Simon pulls up next to her. "I like you, quite a bit more than you might believe. I'm tired of playing games, hoping you feel the same way," he says. Annie thinks about it, then gets in his car.

The Last Thing You Should Do
Previously on 'Covert Affairs': Annie...
more
Previously on 'Covert Affairs': Annie was reassigned and introduced to her new boss, Lena Smith. Auggie met Parker, who was headed off the to the Peace Corps, and Auggie prepared to track her down so he could propose. 'The Last Thing You Should Do': Annie is relaxing in a bath when Danielle interrupts her and tells her Michael is in town and wants a divorce. He didn't say that, but she knows and is worried about her girls. Auggie and Parker are out on a yacht enjoying "a week in paradise" as Auggie tags along with the Peace Corps group. Auggie and Parker make out on the beach and he gets a moment to propose. She's stunned and happily says yes, telling him they're going to have three kids. They kiss a bit more but are interrupted when one of Parker's friends calls for help on the yacht. Debbie, a woman on the boat, fell and hit her head. They're going to head back and the other man on the yacht, Wade, says he already put in a distress call. Auggie is worried, saying distress calls in this part of the world are not usually a good idea. Sure enough, a boat with three armed men soon approaches pirates. The pirates circle and Auggie tries to calm everyone while the pirates board the yacht. While the pirates scour the boat, Auggie quietly asks for a phone and tries to covertly slip the ring off Parker's finger. One of the pirates catches him and takes the ring, while Auggie tells the man in his native language that he means no harm. Auggie, meanwhile, is dialing something on the phone behind his back. The pirate also sees the phone, which he takes and drops into the water. We see Annie answer her phone, with Parker's name on the caller ID, but there's no one on the line. The whole group is now on the pirates' boat headed toward shore. Lena catches Annie looking at maps of the Red Sea and Annie goes on to tell her about the suspicious phone call. Annie reports that Auggie and his group are off the coast of northern Sudan, and her check on Wade Moore the other man on the boat and his father is a defense industry contractor who just made a $200,000 transfer to Topaz Security, and KNR is Topaz's speciality. Lena understands that Auggie is a good friend of Annie's and they need to make a phone call. Back on land, Auggie calms Wade as they take his injured girlfriend Debbie away in a truck to get her medical attention. A woman with an American accent shows up and talks to the pirates, then comes over and explains to Auggie, Wade and Parker that their friend is free to go. She'll get medical aid, then a trip home. "She can get a parade, a book deal, go on 'Dateline' they love pirate stories," she says. She assures them that she and her cohorts aren't about hurting people and it's purely a business transaction. Auggie says she's American, and the woman recognizes that Auggie is blind and says, "Blind man walks down a dock in Africa there's a joke in there somewhere." She tells them to call her Annalysse. She'll negotiate on behalf of the pirates and their future depends on the actions of their loved ones. Arthur talks to Joan and is upset that Auggie was out there in the first place. Joan lays out the plan for taking care of it, and Arthur says the ransom money is "being handled." She asks who's on point. Joan next goes to Lena and asks in front of Annie if they can talk privately. Joan warns Lena that if she's thinking about boxing her out "again" she isn't going to let it happen. Lena assures her this isn't happening. They go back out of the office and Lena tells Joan to pull up a chair. She then asks Annie to loop Joan in on where things stand. Annie awkwardly hands over the file. Auggie, Parker and Wade are taken to an abandoned house. Auggie announces to the pirates that Wade and Parker are engaged and since Wade's family is the pirates' money source so they should not be separated. Annalysse comes in and tells the group she needs to assess their value, and Wade assures her his family will pay. Annalysse looks over Auggie and sees his military tattoo through the back of his shirt. She says she has a phone call to make and leaves. Lena, Joan and Annie go through theories and Lena goes to piggyback on French satellites for eyes over Sudan which Joan calls "bending the rules." Lena goes through the estimates of what the pirates will value each hostage, with Parker coming in at $1.1 million, Wade at $1.5 million and Auggie "nominal." But Annie reminds her that Auggie is ex-special forces, which increases his value. Joan suggests they acknowledge Auggie's ex-special forces status, but Lena disagrees and Annie takes her side. Lena gets on the phone with Annalysse to negotiate, and Annalysse makes a reference to what Lena used to drink. Lena puts her on hold and tells Joan and Annie that she knows Annalysse, a former U.S. oil executive who can get emotional and a couple of her hostages of died recently. Lena offers $2 million for all three hostages and Annalysse tells her she's a far cry from $8 million. Annalysse says she knows one of the is special forces and could yield a lot of money from other interests. Annalysse says she's prepared to offer a package deal, but since Lena wasn't up front with her about Auggie's special forces background, she's now asking for $10 million. Lena says they're standing at $2 million and hangs up, then she tells Joan and Annie it's "a little like buying a car." Wade and a pirate tussle when the pirate tries to take Parker away. Auggie calms the situation and realizes the man is just taking each of them to the bathroom. He ends up taking Wade first and Auggie gets a moment to reveal to Parker that he's CIA. She wonders when he was going to tell her. He says the next time she was in D.C. He tells her he understands it's hard. She wonders who she's marrying and Auggie apologizes for having compromised her trust. She says she's sorry, too. Auggie holds out his hand but she doesn't take it. Wade comes back into the room while Auggie and Parker sit in silence. Parker goes away and Wade confides in Auggie that he's spent years trying to prove himself to his father. Wade hands Auggie the ring he'd just given Parker. He says he found it on the ground and it might have fallen out of the pirate's pocket. Back at headquarters, Joan is worried things are too quiet. Annie gets a phone call from Simon asking about the phone charger she took from him in Munich. She confesses she took it and he wants it back. He offers to fly her to Paris so she can return it. She declines. Annie comes back into the main room and asks Annie, "Was that ?" And Annie says yes. Joan seems a bit uncomfortable with this new inside communication going on between Annie and Lena. In Africa, we see some armed men come toward the house where Auggie and the others are behind held, and they try to force their way in with guns and bombs. Auggie hears the explosions but we quickly find out, back at the CIA, that the armed rescue attempt hit the wrong house. Annalysse calls and says it was a big mistake, the price is now $15 million and she'll now lose a hostage. Lena knows it was Angus Moore, Wade's dad, who sent the rescue team. Joan blames Lena for losing control and taking risks with her operatives, saying nothing's changes. We get into some history here, where Lena tells Joan that whatever she thinks happened in Nairobi, the last place they worked together, didn't. Joan says Lena blew her asset, someone died and Lena left town. Lena insists that asset wasn't who he said he was and got himself killed. In Africa, the pirates take Auggie, Parker and Wade away, load them into a truck and drive them away. Parker asks why they're being moved and Auggie says it means they need to escape. Parker says she's "frozen" and can't go through with an escape, but Auggie assures her they'll be OK if she trusts him. Back at the CIA, Annie says they should move forces into a nearby city. Lena is dubious about moving in on an entire city. Joan agrees they can't put more people at risk until they know where Auggie is. Annie says she knows Auggie will find a way to escape. They tell Annie it's her call because she knows Auggie best. "Send the team," Annie says. In Africa, the truck hits a roadblock and Auggie says it's time to make a run. The second they see daylight, they go. Wade and Auggie immediately tackle the two pirates and knock them out. Wade grabs a gun and fires straight into the air before they run into the alleys of the town. Auggie calls Annie and tells her they need a ride. She says they'll be there in 20 minutes. Auggie says they need to find a roof. Meanwhile, the pirates are still chasing them. They get to a roof but there are towers on it. Annie can see this, too, as they now can see Auggie and the group on satellite cameras. Auggie says they need to jump to another roof, which terrifies Parker. Wade makes the jump first, then Auggie and Parker prepare to do it together. They count off their steps and make the leap. They land as Annie tensely watches them on the screen. A military helicopter arrives. Lena tells Annie she did "good work." Annie turns to thank Joan, but Joan is already well down the hallway. Later, Lena and Annie toast with some whiskey and Lena tells Annie they're going to accomplish a lot of good things together. Lena tells Annie that if she wants to move up in the agency she needs a "story biography." She tells her that Joan was a chapter, and that she, Lena, will be another chapter. Annie says nothing, but Lena tells Annie she's impressed that Simon's calling on her knock line. Annie says she took Simon's cell phone charger and is having S&T mine the data. Lena laughs and says Annie is adding to her story already. At an air base, Auggie proposes again and tells Parker he should have trusted her. She accepts the proposal again and they hug. Auggie says he told her his only secret. He promises her they're going to be happy and they hug. Annie gets home and finds Danielle drinking wine. She says she's good and that she and Michael decided to give it another shot. Danielle says she realized that chapter of her life isn't over yet, and she doesn't want it to be. She also says they're moving to California because Michael got a job in the Bay Area. Annie says it's amazing but she's going to miss Danielle.

Port of Barcelona, Spain: A...
more
Port of Barcelona, Spain: A Canadian couple gets off a cruise liner but run when they see security types waiting for them. They are cornered. At Langley, an anonymous star is chiseled into the wall of the fallen for Jai. Annie (Piper Perabo) returns to her new office with the contents of Simon Fischer's tablet on her sweep drive. She thinks the whole thing came about too easily. Simon (Richard Coyle) might have intentionally left the German passports out in the open. Lena (Sarah Clarke) asks non-judgmentally if Annie spent the night with Simon. Annie tells her she did. Lena just wants to make sure Annie isn't attached to anyone that would care. They're both summoned to the DCS's office where Arthur (Peter Gallagher), Joan (Kari Matchett) and Auggie (Christopher Gorham) are waiting. Auggie and Annie wait outside at Arthur's direction. Inside, Joan explains this morning in Barcelona, Spanish intelligence detained a Canadian couple who came to purchase a computer virus from "Red Rover," a hacker whom they've been tracking for three years. The Canadians were fronts for the Chinese. Joan wants to send a couple in to pose as them and get the virus so they can reverse engineer it in order to inoculate any America computer systems which might be targeted maliciously. Annie and Auggie were investigating Red Rover. Lena doesn't feel like sharing Annie. Joan says it'll take 36 hours. Lena says Annie's enthusiastic but "she's picked up some bad habits along the way." Lena lets her go. Annie and Auggie will be posing as a couple. Back home, Annie unpacks and repacks. Danielle (Anne Dudek) knows Jai died yesterday but thinks it was in a rock climbing accident. She starts pestering Annie for details. "It was a rock climbing accident... wasn't it?" Annie stays mum. Annie meets Auggie at the airport. She can't figure out what she's doing there. Auggie thinks Joan's fiefdom is under attack. She's sending a message by pulling them back. Auggie asks about working with Lena. Annie thinks she's a lot more approachable than Joan. Auggie busts her for lying about her last mission. He knows she was in Marrakesh. At Langley, Joan thanks Lena but Lena thinks Joan's gloating. "You've always been so remote, it's hard to read you sometimes," Lena says. "Oh, I think you read me just fine," Joan says. Lena doesn't get how Joan runs her department, telling Joan she thinks it's worth hurting the big picture to chalk up a win. Lena reminds her they're not young girls in Nairobi anymore. It diminishes both of them when she runs to a man, her husband Arthur in this case, to solve their problems. In Barcelona, Annie and Auggie wait at a café for their meeting. Auggie kisses her hand to sell the façade. A waitress gives them a note from some guy changing the meeting spot. They head in that direction and answer the nearby ringing phone. They're directed to throw money in a passing motorcycle sidecar. Despite their reservations, they do. Red Rover hangs up. They think they've been played, but the digitally disguised voice calls back and directs them to look under the phone. Their package is there. Back at the safe house, Auggie runs diagnostics on the virus. He's impressed. At Langley, Arthur goes to Joan. He thinks the Chinese know what they're up to. Three MSS operatives were just spotted in Spain. Arthur thinks Joan was being passive-aggressive asking for Auggie. She wants to know how he got the photos of the operative so fast. She busts him for micromanaging the op. Auggie tells Annie he's going to ask Parker to marry him, as soon as possible. He was going to go back to Eritrea but the mission came up. He's had the ring in his pocket for four days. They've only been dating three or four months and she doesn't know what he does yet. Annie asks if maybe it's a reaction to what happened to Jai. He doesn't care if it is. Joan calls Annie to tell her the Canadians who were in separate custody have just been found murdered. Annie looks out the window and sees men gathering outside. They head for the elevator as one of the men walks by. They take a different elevator, but he stops it from closing and gets on. He starts to pull a gun and Annie gives Auggie directions on where to fight, knocking the man out. They head for the fire escape. Auggie makes Annie go ahead and check each floor. A man runs out behind Auggie and slams into him. He drops the case with the virus in it. Annie sees the case below and Auggie being pummeled several floors above and goes to help him. Another grabs the case and runs off. Auggie's attacker leaves. Auggie is OK, but mad at himself for dropping the case. They check in with Joan and Auggie tells her as much as he can about the virus. He wants to stop it by finding Red Rover and turning him. Joan doesn't like their chances and tells them it's her fault for sending them in with bad intel and not enough support. She tells them to come home. Petersburg Prison: Arthur meets with Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin), who's in good spirits. "They say the food is the worst thing about prison -- it's the golf," he says. Arthur offers his condolences for Jai and tells him the memorial service was dignified. Arthur tries to convince Henry to cooperate with the task force. Henry's bitter he wasn't allowed to go to Jai's funeral. Arthur suggests some people think he was involved in Jai's death. Henry isn't feeling cooperative. In Barcelona, Auggie is angry Annie is prepared to follow Joan's orders and go home. He thinks Joan is his only champion. He doesn't want to disappoint her. Lena calls Annie, telling her Simon is in Munich and suggesting she stop by. They got nothing from the sweep drive, which Lena suggests Annie got it "too easily." She winces over the idea she got nothing for sleeping with him. Lena suggests if Annie gets intimate enough with him, he'll tell her everything. Annie doesn't commit to going, saying she has to wrap something up. When she gets off the phone, she realizes Auggie is gone. Annie goes back to the café to talk to the waitress and finds Auggie was just there. Annie gets her name and goes to her apartment. Auggie is waiting outside. Annie was being overly cautious because she already lost one friend this week. Auggie chalks it up to their first "married" fight. The waitress returns, but doesn't want to talk to them. She's a Lisbeth Salander-type. She pulls a taser, so Annie politely shows her her gun, saying they just want to talk. She leads them in to a warehouse apartment with a ton of computers set up inside. She's "Red Rover." Paul with NSA is leading the Task Force looking into Jai's death. He drops by Joan's office to tell her in the weeks before Jai's death, Arthur paid to have Jai followed. Back in Spain, Pilar (Ana Claudia Talancón) tests Auggie's blindness by changing in front of him. Auggie tells her she's an extremely talented programmer and compliments her exchange. He urges her to join them. She laughs in his face. Annie offers to double what they paid her before, she immediately counters: "Triple!" Annie agrees. She closes up shop, but sees men outside on her surveillance. She leads them out the back . They run, but get separated from Pilar. Auggie pulls Annie out of the way of a moving car. When it turns around and doubles back, she fires on it. Pilar speeds around in her motorcycle with a side car and picks them up. Back in the US, Joan meets them at the airport, prepared to yell. They introduce Red Rover. Annie likes Auggie always expects the best of people. He asks her to point him toward a ticket counter. He runs his ring by Annie -- it's a pearl because he couldn't go along with the blood diamond trade. Annie tells him if Parker doesn't like it, she's not the right girl. Off he goes. Annie tries not to be too upset. She contemplates the Departures screens and heads for Munich. She gets dolled up and knocks on Simon Fischer's door.

Fourth of July in DC Annie...
more
Fourth of July in DC Annie (Piper Perabo) makes Fourth of July cupcakes for the office. Danielle (Anne Dudek) tastes one and they're terrible. Luckily, she made back-up cupcakes for Annie to take in. She reminds her to take an umbrella. Auggie (Christopher Gorham) is back from Eritrea. Everyone is in full patriotic mode. Annie finds a note on her desk to meet at a diner at 10 a.m. Alone. She goes there. Jai (Sendhil Ramamurthy) joins her. He tells her he has an opportunity for her. He has something to tell her about Langley and the system is b.s., but he doesn't want to talk there. He's acting nervous and stressed. Annie agrees to go with him.He heads out to his car. Annie turns around to get her umbrella. She's leaning over to get it when outside in the parking lot, Jai turns the ignition in his car. It blows to smithereens. The windows of the diner are blown out. Annie is knocked to the ground and bloodied. There's no way Jai survived. Back at Langley, everyone reels from Jai's death. The explosion is being spun as an auto recall. Arthur (Peter Gallagher) wants Auggie to take over Jai's Office of Special Projects. He wants Auggie to figure out what got Jai killed and report to him directly. He knows it will be hard to take over Jai's team, but he tells Auggie to deal with it. In the morning, Annie checks her car for finger prints and looks underneath it before warily getting in and starting the ignition. She arrives at work, which is a blur of activity. Joan (Kari Matchett) tells her she's being reassigned. "I'm sure it seems capricious, but around here movement is progress," Joan tells her. Annie is summoned to Polygraph. The questioner is stuck on the fact she conveniently forgot her umbrella. Finally, on the third time around, Annie has had enough when she thinks he's insinuating she killed her friend. She rips the sensors off and demands of the one-way mirror why she's being transferred. She's about to storm out when Lena Smith (Sarah Clarke) comes in. "I'm your new boss, you've had a rough couple of days. Let's go get a drink," she says. Cut to Annie and Lena at the bar. She's impressed with Annie's track record and says she was being under-utilized. She knows how Annie is feeling, she was in the Nairobi embassy bombing in 1998. She promises to treat Annie as an equal. "One of Langley's double standards that does not exist in my division is a false hierarchy," she says. She also cites the fact male operatives are encouraged to sleep with assets for intel, but females aren't, they get too "emotional." She wants Annie to do security clearance on a person of interest named Simon Fisher. She gives her a passcode. "I know you've only known the DPD but there's other ways of doing things. You'll see," Lena says. At home, Annie gives Danielle her umbrella back and thanks her, not mentioning it saved her life. The next day, Annie kickboxes with Auggie. He knows Lena was the youngest person ever to win the Intelligence Cross and they built an entire division around her.She only does "big wins." She asks Auggie about his investigation and he reassures her Jai's death is not her fault. Annie runs into Joan in the elevator. She reminds Annie to trust her instincts. Annie goes to her new floor and finds it's set up like a mobile command with no cubicles, just a bunch of people bustling or staring intently at computer screens. Annie doesn't have a desk. Lena believes operatives should be out in the field. She tells Annie not to discuss what they do with her former coworkers. Annie gives her report on Simon Fuller, a venture capitalist. It boils down to: his mother was a spy for the KGB. Lena says his kill patterns indicate he trained with the Russian Navy SEALS. He's highly dangerous. Annie also found hidden purchases of land in Western Africa. Russia has been buying up land in poor countries all over the world. She asks Annie what her next move is. Annie wants to meet him. Cut to Annie in Marrakesh. She's driving through town when she slams on the brakes and gets Simon to rear end her. She acts flustered and overwhelmed. He takes charge. Over drinks, while Simon is distracted talking to German tourists, Annie checks his bag. He tells her about traveling the world with his mother as a child. They compare passports to see who's been more places. She asks him about the valley where she knows he bought land then says that's where she was heading before they crashed. He offers to take her tomorrow. Joan drops in on Arthur, ticked he took Auggie. He assures her she can handle it. Annie calls Lena, who tells her she doesn't have to worry about checking in. She wants to run Simon's passport, even though it's likely fake. She also thought the German tourists felt off. She wants a sweep drive to get the contents of Simon's tablet. Auggie asks his new team for case files, but learns there isn't much paperwork . About 50 active operations were in play. Annie goes to Lena's contact to get the sweep drive. She's walking through the market when the German tourists start following her with guns. She runs to lose them. Auggie calls and can tell something is wrong. He offers to help, but she says she's fine. She calls Lena and tells her about being chased. Lena knows protocol but asks what Annie wants to do. She wants to play it out. Lena encourages her to go for it. Annie gets off the phone and turns around to find Simon waiting for her. She gets in his car, where he makes no attempt to hide the gun in his glove compartment. Out on the road, Simon and Annie flirt over eating dates. Back at Langley, Joan visits Auggie packing up his office. He's looking for the number of a lawyer because Jai was a complicated person. He wants to make sure he goes into things with his eyes wide open. Annie notices Simon misses their turn. He tells her he's taking her to an oasis nobody knows about. He takes her to a picnic, then tells her he owns 40,000 acres and intends to turn it into a preserve. She goes to the car for water. She notices the gun isn't in the glove compartment. She takes out her sweep drive and puts it on Simon's tablet. He runs back to the car saying they have to go. There's a giant sandstorm coming. They race across the desert road in front of a wall of sand, but he stops when they can't outrun it. Annie asks for his scarf and wraps it around her head. She goes to the back of the car and puts the scarves in the exhaust. She comes back, announcing the sand would clog the exhaust. He knows that, but asks how she does. "Summers in Tuscon," she answers quickly. He's impressed. He wipes the sand off her gently, then kisses her. Later, they drive back into town and to his hotel room. She watches as he punches a code into the hotel safe and puts his tablet in. He goes to take a shower. She turns on the TV for noise. She takes the sweep drive out again and puts it on the safe to scan. It finishes. She's about to leave when she sees the passports of the German tourists on the table. She's holding on to them trying to decide what to do when Simon comes out of the shower and asks if she's leaving or cares to join him. She thinks, then decides to stay. As they have sex in the shower, the TV news says two German tourists were found dead. Back at Langley, Auggie hears the report and tells someone to look into it.Someone brings him coded files. One box is marked with a square with a line coming out of the top.Cut back to naked Simon in the shower with Annie. He has the mark tattooed on his shoulder.

more
Annie watches blue grass at a bar on a date. She gets a call from Vincent Rosabi, her friendly neighborhood G-Man. He's on his way to meet her. Annie bails on her blind date.Rosabi (Noam Jenkins) picks her up and tells her he has a confidential informant who has been approached by the CIA. He wants the agency to back off because the informant is involved in a big case of his. He followed protocol asking the higher ups, but got total silence. He tells Annie his CI will not be meeting the operative at Joe's bar tonight.Annie checks with Auggie, who says the agency has no interest in Rosabi's CI. Annie goes to the bar.
She's laughs when she sees who it is, Mossad agent Eyal Lavine (Oded Fehr) . He's drinking Sazerac and she tells him the bar in town that serves it best. She reminds him people have gone to prison for impersonating CIA operatives. She tells he won't be meeting with anyone tonight. He laughs and acts casual, but she cautions him again against pretending to be CIA. He predicts her bosses will want to know why Mossad is interested in the informant and order her to follow him.Back at Langley, Joan confirms he was right. The informant is Jacob Yassen, the son of a wealthy emir from the UAE. His construction company has a lot of fishy dealings.Jai turns up and says Jacob turned informant to avoid a bid tampering charge. Joan tells Annie to trail Eyal and not tell Rosabi what they're up to. Jai argues for full communications with the FBI, but Joan overrules him.Annie calls Rosabi and gives him the runaround. She's watching Rosabi get his coffee when Eyal approaches her. He invites her to ride with him. She tells him he has a day to wrap up or they'll need answers.Mossad is interested in someone Jacob can put them in contact with, a deep cover operative Mossad has had in place for more than a decade. The asset has gone silent and they're worried, Eyal says.As they get dressed in the morning, Auggie tries to convince Parker (Devin Kelley) he's excited for her Peace Corps placement in Eritrea for two years. She's leaving in four months but hasn't told her parents yet.Annie goes with Eyal to meet with his asset in a townhouse. She follows as he breaks in. It's a love shack where Jacob brings his girlfriends and which his dad and the FBI don't know about it.They find a naked woman in bed and Jacob nearby. Eyal smacks him. Annie calms the situation and tells Jacob they just need an introduction. Eyal shows him a photo. He says he doesn't know him, but then admits he's a messenger. He leaves a marker in a public place, calls a number, waits an hour. If the man wants to meet, there's another mark.Eyal and Annie drive with Jacob handcuffed in the back seat. They leave tape on the mailbox by the Capitol as Jacob instructed. Jacob makes the call.As they wait, Annie asks Eyal about medical school. He says he took a leave of absence in 2002 because his family needed him. He tells her about going with the flow and they have a nice riverside moment.Auggie visits Joan for a favor. He tells her about a "friend" being placed in Eritrea. He wants her to be reassigned, he's worried because she's all her family has left. Joan tells him to write a request and she'll make sure the right people get it. But she can't make guarantees. She tells him she's glad he came to her.Back in the car, Annie asks Eyal for more info. The man's code name is "Cardinal." He's not an asset, he's a Mossad agent. He assures her he's not spying on US interests. She takes out her phone to check in but Eyal throws it out the window. They check back at the mailbox and see the target has also left a tape mark. Jacob gives them directions. They get blocked behind a bus and a van pulls up. Gunmen get out and shoot Jacob in the back seat. Eyal and Annie get out and a firefight ensues. They run for cover as a compact bomb is thrown under their car. They are still on the scene when the FBI pulls up. Rosabi is with them. He's pissed at Annie. At FBI HQ Rosabi is really angry at Joan and Jai for ruining a three year investigation. She wants to ship Eyal home, but won't say who he is. Jai says he's Mossad. He tells Rosabi pointedly that they want to be helpful, even if it may not look that way from all of them. They're putting Eyal on a plane home.Rosabi keeps Annie to debrief. When they're alone, Joan tells Jai he's undermining her personally or his promotion has affected his better judgment. She reminds him to speak to her privately next time or better yet. keep his thoughts to himself.Annie returns to Langley. Auggie tells her the FBI caught one of the shooters. The bureau will take down Eyal's man tonight. He's not a Mossad operative like Eyal said. He's a Yemeni hitman. Auggie says there's chatter that he might have been involved in the 2002 Golan Heights peace talks massacre. Annie takes note of the date and runs off.Annie finds Eyal at the bar she recommended, drinking Sazerac. He had been placed on a commercial flight wjere the Federal Air Marshal was a friendly former Mossad agent who let him go.Annie calls Eyal out on his mission. He confesses. "Cardinal" hit the peace talks on 2002 and one of the civilians killed was Eyal's sister. It's the reason he became a Mossad agent. She realizes Eyal is on a suicide mission. She urges him not to do it. He questions why she cares so much and whispers something to her as he walks away.Annie joining him in his room, then in his bed.But she stops him by zip-tying him to the bed. She assures him she'll let him go after the FBI gets the hitter. Eyal's not angry, but impressed by her technique. She borrows Eyal's phone and calls Auggie. Everyone's looking for Eyal and Cardinal wasn't where the FBI went to find him. Annie tells Auggie she has Eyal and what hotel they're at. She's startled when she sees "Cardinal" and two accomplices walking in. She tells Auggie.Up in his room, Eyal works to get free from the ziptie. She realizes Eyal knew they were coming, which is why he stayed. Auggie tells her Jai has a team in the field and not to handle it alone.Annie runs up the hotel stairwell. She sees Cardinal and his men get out on Eyal's floor and prepare their guns fitted with suppressors. Auggie tells Jai to hurry. He and his men enter the lobby."Cardinal" and his men shoot their way into Eyal's room. Annie watches from the stairway and runs to the room.
The men search inside for Eyal, who knocks one out as he comes after him. Annie runs in the room and shoves "Cardinal" just as fires so he only hits Eyal in the shoulder."Cardinal" runs to the roof and Eyal follows, holding his wounded shoulder. Eyal looks for him in the shadows.Back in the stairwell, Annie hears a gunshot. She runs to the roof to see Eyal sinking to his knees. She looks over and sees "Cardinal" is dead.Later, Rosabi tries to digest the story they're feeding him. Jai tells him Eyal didn't shoot anyone, and claims that he shot "Cardinal" in self-defense.Rosabi tells Annie it's the last time he asks her for a favor.Annie thanks Jai for covering for Eyal.Annie checks on Eyal as paramedics tend to him. He suggests he'll see where the current takes him.Auggie brings Joan a letter. It's not a change of assignment letter, it's his Close and Continuing Relationship form. He doesn't want Parker to go to Eritrea or anywhere and plans to make the most of their four months together.Back at the bar, Annie drinks Sazerac alone, with an eye on the door.

Annie says it is. She leaves.Danielle puts on her sunglasses and grabs her keys. Danielle follows Annie in her minivan. Annie notices and tries to lose her. Danielle darts through traffic. Annie finally ditches her at a yellow light. She gets to work 20 minutes late and tells Auggie (Christopher Gorham) her predicament.
"If I can't fool my sister how am I going to fare against FSB counter intelligence?" she asks.Auggie says it's normal, his brother checked up on him constantly at first. Auggie bought him an Xbox.Annie notices Arthur (Peter Gallagher) is on their floor, which can't be good news.Arthur announces an active case officer named "Moonlight" was killed two days ago. He explains how rare it is for the agency. 103 agents in the last 65 years -- only four on US soil.Joan (Kari Matchett) calls Annie in with bad news. She knew the operative. Annie looks at a picture of her Georgetown language professor Mark Ramsay, but doesn't understand. He was "Moonlight." Annie is the only one who can help them catch his killer.Annie tries to process the information. He was tracking a Pakistani state-sponsored spy group. They think his contact turned on him. They want Annie to use her relationship with his widow Safia to get his last bit of intel."You want me to go to the house of a grieving widow whose husband was just murdered and ask her where the classified documents are hidden?" Annie protests.Joan says it's more complicated. Safia didn't know he was CIA. Joan thinks they should respect that. Arthur over-rules her and tells Annie to tell the widow the truth.Auggie tries to cheer Annie up with a fancy microscrope for reading a microdot. It's the size of a period but contains a page of text.Auggie advises Annie to be direct breaking the news to Safia. Annie thinks the news will shatter her.Annie arrives at his wake, bearing lilies. Safia, who is Pakistani, greets her in Urdu. The house is full of people, including a couple of Ramsay's other former students.Later, Annie and Safia take a walk. Annie's carrying an envelope. She gives it to her. It's a commendation from the CIA. Annie tells her Mark was undercover for 20 years and Annie works for them, too. Safia rips it up and walks away.Annie catches up with her. Safia tells her she doesn't believe her. Annie follows her into the house. They see it's been ransacked. There's a noise upstairs. A man comes down with a gun. Annie hides Safia as he goes out the front door. They go out the back. He turns and sees them. He fires and jumps in a waiting car. The car drives down alleys, chasing them. Annie pushes a trash bin in its way and checks out the license plate before it drives off.Later, CIA "movers" go over every inch of Safia's house. They think the Pakistani group is after the microdot.Annie explains the movers are looking for information on Mark's killers. Safia thinks his life was a lie. Annie explains his Georgetown job and overseas lecturing were real. He just also recruited assets and spied on foreign nationals.Safia says he should have told her. Annie says it's hard to find the right moment. If you wait too long it gets harder.Annie wants Safia to go stay somewhere safe, but she refuses.
The movers find a safety deposit box key behind a fake wall in the closet.Annie and Safia go to the bank. There's a microdot kit in the box and tons of postcards from every city they ever visited. Safia finds his wedding vows, too. Annie has to take it back to Langley, but promises they'll return it.Jai (Sendhil Ramamurthy) reports to Joan that Pakistan is denying any link. The car that chased Annie was a rental that chased to the Pakistani Welfare Agency, based in DC.He has dossiers on every employee. Joan and Arthur look through them. Arthur homes in on Rabina, the hot young secretary to the CEO. Arthur tells Jai to find an "in."Annie comes home to find Danielle waiting up. She's watching coverage of Ramsay's shooting, which was staged to look like a gang initiation. Danielle hears he was a Georgetown professor. Annie says he was her advisor. Danielle can't believe Annie didn't tell her someone she knew was killed. Annie asks if they can drop it. Danielle regroups and expresses sympathy. The next day, Auggie oversees dozens of techs looking through every single one of Mark's belongings for the microdot. They've already gone through twice. Auggie tells them to go through a third time. They found nothing in the safety deposit box. Annie looks at the collection and notices the wedding vows are missing.Annie goes to Safia's house, which has been under surveillance. Annie goes in, but Safia's not there.Back at Langley, Joan thinks her disappearance means she's working with the spy organization. Annie protests she knows Safia and she loved her husband.Annie might not know Mark as well as she thought. Joan shows Annie a paper she wrote in college. Mark gave it to the CIA and told them to recruit her. Annie was on the agency's radar long before she applied.Joan tells Annie to stay out of things until they find Safia.Auggie finds Annie at her desk. Auggie says he was recruited because he could write unbreakable code and won his state wrestling tournaments.
There's no trace of Safia yet.Auggie knows he's not supposed to tell Annie to investigate on her own, or give her the code to the annex where Safia's stuff is. But he does anyway.Annie looks it all over. She looks at a postcard from Maine and a ferry pass.Auggie gets a call from the Smithsonian. Danielle is there looking for Annie. Auggie heads over. Danielle is exasperated after getting the runaround for two hours. She recognizes Auggie from the tour he gave her daughter's class.Auggie uses the acquisition conference as an excuse for Annie. He offers to buy Danielle coffee.Jai approaches the Pakistani Welfare Agency woman at a bar. She brushes him off. He tells her they both know how the charade plays out.
Cut to them making out and stripping in her apartment. She pauses halfway through and goes for champagne. He calls tech support. They walk him through hacking into her phone. His end of the mission is done, but he decides to stick around. The woman comes out in lingerie.Danielle tells Auggie her worries about Annie and that she's canceled dates with Dr. Scott. Auggie didn't know. He tells her Annie has made a commitment to art and protecting it. It's very demanding.Meanwhile, Annie takes a ferry to a house in Maine. She calls for Safia. She turns around to find Safia holding a gun on her.
She accuses Annie of being a spy who's just after his files. Annie assures her she can trust her. Safia lowers the gun.Cut to them sitting in beach chair as Safia explains she questioned everything after she learned Mark was a spy. When she saw the safety deposit box she knew even though he kept things from her, he loved her. Annie thinks he didn't register the house with the agency because he wanted to keep it between them.Annie tells her the last time she saw Mark he told her not to join the agency. She now understands why: it's not easy deceiving people, especially the people you love.Safia gives Annie the handwritten vows. Annie scans them with a magnifying glass and finds a microdot. Mark knew his house wasn't safe.At Langley, Joan wants to know why Arthur is retasking her people to the Ramsay investigation. Arthur is frustrated they're stumped.
"Don't do this," Joan says. She thinks he's worried it could have been him. He says he's not worried about himself. He's worried about Joan and their team.On the ferry home, Annie tries for a cell signal, but gets nothing. Annie sees Safia talking to someone on the boat.At Langley, Jai cross-referenced Rabina the PWA woman's contacts with Ramsay's and found Tommy, the nerd from the wake. He took three classes from Ramsay and studies nuclear physics at Georgetown and has top secret clearance, a perfect mark for the Pakistani group. He had huge student loans recently paid off.On the boat, Annie points out the amazing coincidence of running into Tommy. He says he's on vacation, but Annie notices he has no bags. He grabs Safia. Annie quickly pulls him off and bounces his head off a handrail, knocking him out.One of the Pakistani goons appears. Annie races Safia to the upper deck. They head to the top deck. As he follows, Annie waits and kicks the gun out of his hand. They race for a lifeboat, but the man charges them.Annie tells Safia to run. She tries to fight the man off. He punches Annie and throws her into the railing and clearly has the upperhand, when Safia grabs an oar and whacks him.Annie pushes him into the boat and flips him off the side.Back at Langley, Ramsay's microdot confirms the identity of seven Pakistani spy agency operatives, including Tommy and the man from the boat.Arthur knows conventional wisdom is to try to turn the Pakistanis against their own and get higher ups. Joan wants to bring them to justice, saying the CIA protects its own. Arthur was hoping she'd say that.Arthur leads the ceremony for adding a star to the wall at Langley. Safia's in the audience with Annie. After the ceremony, Annie tells Auggie she wants to tell Danielle. He tells her to go ahead. He eventually had to tell his brother. After he didn't speak to Auggie for six months, they became closer than ever.Back home, Annie sees Danielle waiting up in her living room. She takes a deep breath.

A man (Yancey Arias) named Delgado checks in with security, saying he's late for a meeting. They wand him and check his briefcase.Meanwhile, upstairs, the boss welcomes people on a Saturday for a meeting.
The man takes the elevator up. Three more men get on.A janitor mops outside the meeting room.As the men get off the elevator, the janitor passes out guns. A woman in the meeting room sees the men coming and quickly sends a coded text.Delgado and the men enter the room and politely ask for everyone's cell phones and ID. He hauls George, the Senior VP up off the floor. He knows everyone's names, including the woman Megan. He brought an inhaler for a man who he knows has asthma.Delgado says they have no chance of escape because the building has steel reinforced walls and bullet proof windows. He points out that no one knows what is going on there. He takes out a phone and takes a video of the room and sends in his demands, saying that they are ecology activists.Meanwhile, Annie on her cliff wall gets an emergency call from Auggie to come in to work. She kisses Scott good bye and rappels off.At work, Auggie explains there's a hostage situation with the group is claiming to be eco-terrorists. The CIA hasn't heard of them. Auggie tells her Megan is a deep cover operative who's been under for two years and they got her emergency text. The confirmed the situation with the company.Joan requested Annie specifically to go in on an intelligence-gathering mission.Auggie briefs her on the info so far, including that they've never heard of Delgado. The Mexican authorities haven't been notified and the CIA would like to keep it that way. Delgado sent his demands to the head of GG & E directly. He wants $83.5 million to an off-shore account. At home, Arthur worries about Joan going on the mission. Megan has a meeting with a high-value operative tonight and if she misses it years of work will be blown. Joan says the plan is good and she's going. After she leaves, Arthur makes a call to someone, telling them to pack their bags.Jai comes in the kitchen of his parent's house and says hello to his dad, Henry (Gregory Itzin), who is reading Liza Hearn's article calling Arthur a failure. Jai says the eco-terrorist group has requested a news crew from Eco TV and it's the perfect cover for a CIA group. His dad is on the board of GG & E and can get the team in. Henry just sees it as Arthur needing to be bailed out.Jai glances at his dad's security monitors and sees Liza Hearn (Emmanuelle Vaugier) leaving through a back door.Annie meets Joan on the tarmac. Joan's going as her producer. The camera man is on the plane. Annie gets on. It's Ben.Joan immediately knows it's Arthur's doing.Annie reads her cover on the plane. Ben goes to talk to her. He starts to explain, but she already knows the drill. She says she understands now that being pulled away and not being allowed to make contact is all part of the job.Joan interrupts to remind Ben she's in charge and it's not a rescue mission, just intelligence gathering. They're going in without guns. Megan is a friend from The Farm.Scott brings Annie's climbing gear back to her house and runs into Danielle (Anne Dudek). Her kids grab him to play board games.Joan, Ben and Annie land in Mexico. Joan isn't pleased Ben is along and won't even let him open the car door.At GG & E, they have two hours. Security checks Ben's camera. They submit to patdowns.Delgado greets them. Annie tells him she won't do an interview until they see the condition of the hostages, but he tells her she's in no position to make demands.Ben sets up his camera, sending video and audio back to Auggie at Langley. Annie starts to go into Ben's camera bag, but he warns her not to."No cowboy crap," she tells him.At Langley, Arthur joins to watch the feed.Delgado and his men lead Annie, Joan and Ben into the conference room. Ben takes footage of all the hostages and Meg notices Joan. Meg tells the camera to tell her Owen she hasn't been harmed and the terrorists provided food and water.Auggie listens to her comments again. They figure out the first sentence had seven words for seven hostages, the second had five for five terrorists. Food and water means they're armed.Delgado talks to Annie and points out he watches her network often but doesn't remember ever seeing her before. He points his gun at her. Joan stops Ben from making a move. Then he shows her his Colt revolver, made with Mexican silver. She asks why he wanted a news crew. He calls for his iPad and looks her up. He finds a news report she did that morning in front of a green screen. She asks if that's enough to satisfy his paranoia.Scott plays "Operation" with Annie's nieces. They ask if he's going to marry Annie. Danielle says she's just happy Annie seems happy. Scott comments on her hours, saying "who knew working in a museum could be so demanding?"Outside GG & E, a Mexican police officer notices the SUV Joan left parked there. He gets out to inspect and calls in the license plate. The terrorists hear the broadcast upstairs.Delgado sends one of his guys down to deal with it. The police officer says one guy's wife is worried because she can't reach him. Delgado's guy puts on a badge and says he's on the same call and the guy is upstairs in his office screwing his secretary. Satisfied, the cop laughs and leaves.Delgado lets the women use the bathroom. Meg hugs Joan and asks why she's there. Joan reminds her that when she woke up in the hospital, Meg was there. Meg saw a gang prison tat on one of the hostage takers. They don't seem like eco activists.Jai finds Liza in a café. He tells her he knows she was visiting his dad. She gives him a place and time to meet.Henry visits Arthur, who isn't glad to see him. Henry says GG & E has expedited the ransom through their hostage insurance, but they should make sure it gets there.Arthur tells Auggie the money should be coming through soon. The $83.5 million is just under the insurance cap, which means Delgado has access to proprietary company info. Arthur wants to talk to Joan, but Auggie reminds her they can't communicate with them.Ben checks on Annie and suggests this time tomorrow, they could be on a beach in Belize. She says that sounds nice.Delgado gives Annie a list of questions to ask him. She reluctantly conducts the staged interview. He says the government is in bed with the company and they're hurting Mexico's natural resources. He cuts the interview short when he gets a text that the wire transfer is complete.Annie needles him, asking him to make a statement about his group. Watching the feed, Arthur gets nervous that Annie isn't following protocol. Auggie assures him she must have a plan.Annie asks why he picked GG & E if it has the best safety record of any oil company. She says he doesn't care about Mexico, he's in it for the money.Delgado grabs the camera and smashes it.He gets in her face and orders his men to put Annie, Joan and Ben in with the hostages.Joan asks what she's thinking and Annie says they have to get close to the hostages because Delgado has no intention of letting them out alive.Delgado quietly tells his men to kill them all after his helicopter leaves. He grabs Megan for insurance, but the Senior VP George steps in and offers to go instead. Delgado grabs him. The men leave.Joan immediately tells Annie she was right, that Delgado was distracted during the entire interview and this isn't about making a statement. They don't think he's the one running things.Joan tells Ben he's up and asks what he snuck in.Arthur freaks out a little at Langley, but Auggie tells him to trust that Joan will get through it.There are four men guarding the door and Joan and Megan think they can take them. Ben brought something tiny that will shatter the windows to get them out. He suggests they head for the roof.He arms the blast. The windows shatter. The guards come to investigate. Ben and Annie climb up outside the building from 30 floors up. In the conference room, Joan and Megan engage the armed guards ands after a succession of whacks and chops, subdue them.On the roof they see a window washing rig. Annie (Piper Perabo) calls Auggie...
more
Annie (Piper Perabo) calls Auggie (Christopher Gorham) at the start of his vacation with is very important business. She needs to know the name of the salad she likes in the cafeteria. As Auggie is talking to her on his bluetooth, he's on a plane, trying to find a place to fit his luggage. He's going to the jazz festival in Istanbul. The sexy stewardess (Rebecca Mader) helps him out and makes a date for later. In Istanbul, he gets an oyster seaside and explores a mosque, remembering what it looks like. He listens to everything around him. There's a parade of jazz musicians going through the city.He says hi to an old friend setting up one of the stages. He wants to set up his recording equipment to capture the experience. He takes in a concert, standing with the crowd.Back in his hotel, he listens to the recording while the naked stewardess sits in his bed. She thinks he's a music journalist and sound engineer. As he's listening to the tape, he recognizes a voice in the crowd. It's the man who blinded him.He plays the tape again and again to be sure.Flash back to 2007
US forward Operating Base, BaghdadHe tells the stewardess about life on the base, including football in the sand.Cut to a montage of shirtless dudes, including Auggie, playing. He gets called in to see the general, who tells him they've found a high level terrorist. He's sending Auggie's men out after him.Auggie tells us about the idea of working as a unit and rising in moments of crisis.Auggie calls Annie at Langley. He wants a favor. He tells her it's something he forgot to look up. He gives her the name of a Kurd named Khani and asks her to confirm he's dead. He asks her not to tell Joan (Kari Matchett).Back at the festival, Auggie asks his friend for additional recordings from a mike set up above the stage.Annie runs a search and gets an alert telling her a file has been removed. Without knowing what she's looking for, Joan suggests Annie check the file tree -- checking the files around the one removed.Annie tells Auggie that Khani was removed from the database, but she found his sister lives in Baltimore. Annie has a day off. He asks her to go.Auggie listens to the additional recording. The stewardess joins him, fresh from the shower. He tells her he needs her to be his eyes, but can't necessarily tell her why. She's game. They walk through a street market, where he identifies sounds, including rain. It's from a rain stick. Auggie tells her the man holding it is the other voice on the tape.Back in Iraq, 67 kilometers from Tikrit, Auggie and his unit drive. His driver Billy (Jeff Pangman) plays jazz. They stop when a man on the road blocks their path with his goats. They see what looks like a dead dog in the road. Auggie tells Nassir to check it out with him. They talk to the old man and give him some money.Nassir says not to take another step. He shoots at the dead dog. Land mines explode all around it in the distance. They get back in the humvee to look for another way to Tikrit.Auggie and his stewardess tail the rainmaker in a car. He's driving a super fancy Mercedes, clearly not something he could afford on a merchant's earnings. In Baltimore, Annie goes to see Layla Khani for a manicure. She talks about her sister to get Layla to mention her sibling. She says her brother is dead.Annie leaves Auggie a message. Outside, a black SUV pulls up next to her. It'sFBI Agent Rossabi (Noam Jenkins). He tells her to get in. She continues not being CIA. He tells Annie that Layla has been informing on her brother for three years. He's been targeting American forces overseas. He's not dead.Rossabi mentions a special forces unit even went after him during the war. Annie takes note.Auggie and his stewardess follow the rainmaker until he goes into a café. Auggie puts a bug on her and sends her in to order a coffee and get the lay of the land.Back in 2007, Auggie's unit reaches Tikrit. They pull up to a building, with kids and women outside. It's the Jack of Diamond's safehouse. Before they can get out, they take fire from above. Billy is killed. They get out and fire back, but the shooters have better positions. Another member is hit in the leg.Auggie asks for cover and makes a run for the house as the shooting from above continues.Inside, Auggie creeps quietly through the house. A man fires at him from the top of stairs. Auggie shoots back and hits him. Another appears and he takes him out, too.Auggie makes it to the roof and takes out the shooter. He compares the picture he has of the terrorist and confirms it's the right guy.Back in Istanbul, Auggie listens to the rainmaker tell another man, Khani, everything is set for the cargo and his flights, eventually leading to Washington.Auggie calls Annie, who tells him about the FBI. She knows it was his special forces unit who went after him.He apologizes for everything he's put her through, but says there's something he has to do. He says good-bye, which strikes Annie as odd.Annie goes to Joan, telling her about the favor she did for Auggie and how that led to the FBI. She confirmed Auggie is going to a town with one airport and a cargo flight leaving for Lima. She's worried Auggie is up to something. She tells Joan the terrorist's name. She knows it.Back in 2007, Auggie hears a terrorist say over the walkie talkie he's setting the trap. He sees someone throw something under his humvee, where his guys are. He races downstairs and runs at them, screaming they have to get away. He's running at it as it explodes in a giant fireball. Everything goes black.Back in Istanbul, Auggie preps for his solo mission. His stewardess got the airplane specs from a stewardess friend, who says the cargo is textiles and carpets. She reads him plane measurements.Annie meets with Rossabi, asking, hypothetically, if they have enough evidence to prosecute the terrorist if he ends up on US soil. He assures her they do. They follow up all anonymous tips. She tells him to wait by the phone.Auggie says good-bye to his stewardess, making plans to meet up with her again in a month in Barbados. Her phone rings. It's a blocked call -- from Annie. The stewardess thinks it's Auggie's wife. She tells him not to do what he's about to. She tells him the FBI has enough evidence to prosecute the terrorist, shutting down his network. They're ready to reroute the plane to Washington. She tells him this is what they do.
He says it's too late and hangs up.The stewardess lets him into the airport hanger. He thanks her and heads out. He climbs into the cargo hold.Inside, Auggie puts on headphones and uses a super sensitive mike to listen to the cargo hold. It's filled with giant crates, covered with tarps. He hears metal clanking together and walks down the aisle, feeling his way. He stops when he hears someone breathing. He turns up the mike and listens. We see a man sitting in one of the crates.Auggie throws something down with the sounds of gunfire. The man runs. Auggie waits in the aisle and tackles him. They grapple back and forth, with the man recognizing Auggie and getting the better of him. He throws Auggie around. He soon realizes Auggie can't see.Auggie tackles him and throws him over his shoulder, then on the ground. He punches him and holds his head down. Auggie takes out his knife and raises it over his head, but then sheaths it and settles for just punching the man again.Dulles Airport
The plane lands and FBI vehicles race up. The terrorist comes rolling limply out of the cargo hold.Joan and Annie watch a live feed as the FBI collects their cargo and drives off. They watch Auggie walk out of the cargo hold.Back in 2007, we see Auggie receive the Purple Heart. He never told anyone because he wasn't happy about being injured and losing his friends to earn it. He tells Annie. She assures him he did the right thing. He tells her even though he's blind, he still remembers every detail of that picture one day after playing football. He carries it, even though he can't see. He shows it to Annie.

more
Annie (Piper Perabo) wakes up late to find her power went out. She races to get ready for work. She has to drive around for a space and nearly gets run over by a woman who later takes her space in line at the coffee bar.She complains about the "Alpha Barbie" to Auggie (Christopher Gorham), who also has news. He's the new head of Congressional Affairs. She realizes he's leaving. He'll lose his covert status, so she won't be able to see him all the time.Jai (Sendhil Ramamurthy) calls her to a meeting about NASAJoan (Kari Matchett) tells the group about a satellite over a rebel group called FARK going dark during a key time. NASA wants a discrete look into their satellite security. Joan also introduces Auggie's replacement, Riva (Jaimie Alexander). It's Alpha Barbie.Riva is cold and calculating. She immediately rubs Annie the wrong way. Annie is supposed to interview NASA satellite people as part of her Smithsonian cover.Annie runs into Auggie at the elevator. She feels weird looking into Americans, but Auggie says Joan knows how she feels and probably picked her for that reason, knowing she'd do a good job.Joan and Arthur (Peter Gallagher) meet with Chet the lawyer about the upcoming hearings into Arthur. Chet is unconcerned. He says they'll talk after his tennis date in Hilton Head.Annie visits the science fair and interviews NASA people, including a cocky astronaut and a technician supervisor.
His son Charlie interrupts and mentions his dad has worked for NASA his whole life. Annie is interrupted by a Smithsonian person who wants to know more what she's doing there. Annie drops the right name. The woman leaves.Arthur visits Auggie in his new seventh floor office, with a view Auggie can't enjoy.Annie checks in with Riva, who scolds her for asking too many questions before the important one in her interviews.
Riva cites stats that say people who are lying sometimes show different body language. Riva has homed in on the supervisor technician Will (Mark Moses). Annie says he seemed like the biggest NASA guy, but Riva says he fits the profile. Funding was just cut and his wife left him. They want to put him under surveillance, but Joan says they can't because it involves the NSA.Riva starts to suggest another way, arguing with Joan's decision. Joan quickly cuts her off and puts her in her place, saying her decisions are final.Outside, Annie finds Riva crying in the foyer. Annie reassures her Joan has made many people cry on her first day. Riva is used to just dealing with numbers, not people. Suddenly, she gets an idea for one-way surveillance which wouldn't have to involve the NSA.Annie spontaneously calls up Will and asks if she can drop by a photo as a thank you. He says he's having a bbq and invites her. Riva is concerned, and asks Annie if anything odd happened yesterday. Annie mentions the PR person. Riva thinks Annie might have blown her cover and the bbq is a trap.Arthur meets with Auggie giving him a good PR story to tell.
Annie goes to Will's place and gives him a photo of Apollo 15, his favorite. Will offers Annie a beer. They head up to the roof. Annie has to keep them out of the apartment for 15 minutes so Jai can plant the bug .
She talks about her favorite constellation and how her dad pointed it out to her when she was a kid. Downstairs, Jai plants bugs.
Charlie shows Annie their telescope and suggests she hang out with his dad. He says their apartment is lame because his dad never asks for a raise.
It starts to rain, but it's not 7:15p.m. yet so Annie asks for more food and eats a brat in the rain. They come downstairs just as Jai makes it out a window.Annie jogs with her sister and asks about her husband Michael, who's been traveling a lot. Danielle (Anne Dudek) admits she doesn't really miss him and isn't that bothered. Annie notices a young woman with a red braid who appears to be following her. She gets Danielle to run down a trail then says she dropped her phone. She urges Danielle to go home. The red braid woman jogs around the corner. The red braid takes off running as soon as Annie looks at her, but Annie chases her through the trails and across traffic, causing an accident.Annie calls Riva, telling her she was followed and asking the park police to see if anyone reported her being involved with the pile-up.Protocol is Annie not go in to work, but she says she'll be careful.Joan and Arthur go over the giant bill from their attorney, Chet. They think he took advantage of them for a tennis vacation, knowing they needed a hot shot. Joan says she was wrong to insist they hire him. Joan wants Arthur to pay him, then fire him.Annie makes it into work after taking three buses and two metros. They find the woman with the red braid met with Will last night almost immediately after Annie left. They have audio of Will saying he's ready to make another drop.Arthur reads over Auggie's first press release, saying it's too dense and vague. Arthur urges him to unlearn his covert skills quickly.Auggie finds Annie waiting for him in his office. She tells him they have Will caught but it doesn't seem right. Auggie says he can't help. He bombed out for Arthur and has to fix it.Joan goes in to talk with Will in an interrogation room. He almost immediately says he'll tell her everything about the Colombian rebels. He's tired of lying.Annie watches from the observation room. Joan asks how the Colombians got to him. He was at a science fair for Charlie. The red braid approached him, saying she was a private contractor. By the time he realized who she worked for, they were blackmailing him. Joan says he could have come to them.Annie goes home and asks her sister if she wants to talk. She points out Michael's a good father. Danielle says Annie always sees the best in everyone. Annie wonders if maybe she's just naïve.Annie volunteers to babysit so Danielle and her husband can have a night out.Back at work, Annie finds Will listed NASA as a beneficiary of his 401K. She tells Riva that's proof he didn't hate them. Riva tells her to move on. Annie tells her normally Auggie would encourage her to follow her instincts. Instead, Riva tells Annie about a project she worked on for two years and wouldn't give up on after obvious failures. She advises Annie to get out of her own way. Before his press conference, Arthur reads over Auggie's new release and says it's great. He's congratulating him. Auggie seems uneasy.Annie goes back to Riva, asking her again about body language giving away lying. She shows her Will's interview with Joan, in which he used his tell during the story about the red head with the braid.Annie goes back to talk to Will. He quotes something sciency she heard Charlie say. She realizes the Colombians had Charlie, not Will. Will admits the red head with the braid snagged Charlie. He got them Will's resume and a paper he had written. Charlie thought he was helping his dad get a new job. As soon as Charlie told him, Will started helping them. Charlie thought Will fixed it.Annie asks Will why he made the call. He says the Colombians contacted him after she left saying someone had followed her in and left by the fire escape. He knew his place was bugged when he made the call -- to his own voice mail. He was trying to get caught, so he'd be useless to the Colombians. He was protecting his son.Annie gets a call from "DPD Tech" and expects Riva. She gets Auggie instead. He's back.
He wasn't ready to blow his cover and says she was helpless without him. He's up to speed on everything and tells her that Charlie made a call offering the Colombians information in exchange for his dad -- he thinks they have him.Annie finds Charlie at the Planetarium and quickly tells him his dad is with them. She'll help. Annie sees the woman with the red braid come in with another man. Annie points an usher's laser at the man like it's a rifle sight. They run out. Under the planetarium, Annie knocks the woman down. She tells Charlie to get the gun when it's knocked out of her hand. Annie fights the woman off and knocks her out. She tells Charlie it's over.Later, Charlie says he can stay with his grandmother.Arthur and Joan meet with Chet, who keeps talking about his tennis game. Finally, tells them he was playing with Senator Judson, the one who wants to investigate Arthur. He told his committee this morning there was no reason to pursue an investigation. It's over.Annie, Auggie, Riva and Jai get drinks. Riva is happy to be going back to her tech job with a raise.Annie goes home to babysit. She tells her nieces about the constellations.

Annie plays soccer.Caracas, Venezuela
A group of kids play soccer in the street as a bald dude watches. He approaches another guy and asks who's winning. Suddenly, he's surrounded by men who tell him only the government wins. They shoot at him but he runs. He makes it to his car, where he's quickly garroted to death by his own medallion necklace.Back on the soccer field, Annie's team loses to a young Latin man who can't stop staring at her. Diego asks her out after the game, saying he'll do anything she asks. She tells him she needs his help getting to his sister Julia. In Caracas, one of the killers brings his mistress the same necklace.Annie tells Diego she knows all about his sister, including that she's Victor Ponce's mistress and his personal banker. Over the past few years she's helped skim over $100 million in profits owed US oil companies. She tells him they need to look into the account and see where it's going because they're worried it's going to people who want to destabilize the government. She tells him they'll protect him and his sister and pay for his education, otherwise his student visa might get canceled. She needs an answer tonight. Auggie sits down on the bench next to Diego after Annie leaves. He reports back to Jane at HQ and she reminds him he's not supposed to do field work. Annie tells Jane her Smithsonian ID is in place. She wants Annie to escort him to Caracas. Jay reports to Jane that their agent Lopez there is out of touch. Then he checks in with Annie and reveals he was watching her at soccer.Diego calls. At home during morning madness Annie takes in the scene before packing for her trip. She tosses her long lost boyfriend bracelet in, then her sister joins her and tells her to let him go.In the Caracas airport, Annie looks for Lopez, who she says will be wearing a Bolivar medal around his neck. A woman bumps into her and puts a phone in her hand. It rings, it's Auggie, who points out their agent Rodriguez at the door. Lopez has been out of contact for 72 hours and the station chief is worried. He tells her she might be on her own.At HQ, Jane and the team try to decide what to do. They're worried they don't have much time if Lopez is dead because it means someone is on to them. They decide to let Annie go ahead.Diego and Annie go meet his sister, where he introduces Annie as his girlfriend. The sister thinks Annie's too old for her 20 year old brother, but Annie explains she's there for her.At Julia's house she says Victor is a good man. But Annie tells her he's married, with many mistresses. Annie says Victor will be taken down but she doesn't have to go with him. They want her to tag his account to give them access. Annie gives her a US passport. Julia doesn't like the idea of leaving her home, where she's known as the mother of the neighborhood. Annie cautions her not to get burned by love.At HQ, Auggie waits to hear from Annie.Rain pours down in Caracas. Julia doesn't want to prove Victor's guilt, but Annie tells her to do it to prove his innocence.Annie calls home, saying the account has a password that changes every minute. Victor carries a coded fob and they need it to access the account. She says they're switching Julia's for Victor's the next day after their afternoon delight. Annie and Diego meet up with them. When Victor hears Annie's Smithsonian cover story about looking into a letter Simon Bolivar wrote to James Monroe, he suggests he go look at it with her and Diego drive Julia home, foiling their plan. One of the agents watching Annie sees that Julia is wearing a Bolivar medallion that he recognizes as belonging to Lopez (who we know Victor had killed). Jane gets a report that Lopez' body has been found in pieces.Jane and the team decide to proceed. Victor tests Annie's cover story and she proves to know plenty about Bolivar. She and Julia go to the bathroom. Julia tells Annie that Victor gave her the necklace Sunday. Annie tells her she's pretty sure it means Victor killed her colleague. She tells Julia to wait for her at the bank. Julia still doesn't think Annie's right about Victor.Victor drives like a maniac and asks Annie what she sees in Diego. He thinks she should be dating someone older. He wants her to drive. She grinds the sports car's gears, stops and starts and generally appears like an incompetent driver. He tells her his men searched her car at lunch and found the Bolivar book with relevant parts highlighted. She comes to a roadblock and can't help but handle it capably. She realizes her cover is blown. She stops and he pulls a gun on her. She unbuckles his seat belt and drives donuts that pin him to his seat as she swats at his gun. A shot rings out, nicking her and shattering her window, then she opens his door, tosses him out and drives off.Annie calls Auggie. She's bleeding on Victor's car. Auggie directs her to a cabbie with a beard who will take her to the airport. She goes in the bank to get Julia. They sit down at the computer with Victor's code fob as he pulls up outside with his men. The cabbie sees them go in and makes a call. Auggie calls Annie. Julia tags the account and the CIA gets access.Diego hides from Victor. Julia is having a hard time believing she was wrong about Victor and Annie reminds her he shot her.At HQ, they see that the money is tied to terrorist groups.Victor heads for the back as Annie and Julia go out the side door, triggering the alarm. Annie tells her someone else will get Diego. After one last moment of indecision, Julia gets in the car with Annie.Back in Georgetown, Annie watches soccer with Diego. Julia's having a hard time adapting but Diego isn't worried. They're being moved tomorrow. He joins his sister.Auggie reassures Annie it was a job well done. He tells her he thinks Jane envies her being able to do field work. Annie watches Diego and Julia and back at HQ she asks if they were able to trace all of Victor's money. He says there were some small accounts in the Caymans they couldn't get into. Annie wants to know where Diego's tuition money comes from -- Julia's account that traces back to the Caymans. At the safe house, Julia lifts the phone of the agent guarding them.Auggie and Annie tell Jane that Julia was giving money to kids in the slums and she moved money as recently as yesterday, when she wasn't supposed to have access to phones. They wonder if she would contact Victor.Cut to Victor coming into the US on a fake passport and receiving a text from Julia. She tells the agent guarding her she's going down for coffee.Annie arrives at the safehouse to find Julia is gone.Julia pulls up to a public fountain in a cab. Auggie traces cabs and finds her. Jane tells Annie to stand down, that there are people nearby, but Annie's not listening.Julia runs up to Victor, saying she knew he'd forgive her. He has her passport.
Annie lets the agent go after Julia but Diego bolts, too. She runs after him.Julia gets in Victor's car as she sees Diego running toward her. Victor's goon in the back seat starts garroting Julia as Victor tells her there's no going back - and then an agent shoots the goon through the back window. Victor tries to drive off.
